I’ve seen plenty of folks doing long and hard things on Zwift over the past dozen weeks. 24-hour challenges, and everesting, and double everesting, and all sorts. I’m not a complete stranger to long rides: I’ve completed (and also failed to complete, which was funnier) a 600km audax, and I’ve also ridden the Red Bull timelaps race as a solo rider.
So now it’s my turn. My plan, with Dan who dragged me round a lot of the 600k, is a 500km ride, hopefully in a 24-hour time frame. It’s the equivalent of riding from London to Barnard Castle, via Durham. Hence the name.
Anyway, that’s the plan, such as it is. We leave Big Ben at 6am next Tuesday, and we hope to be myopically feeling our way into Barnard Castle before the same time the next day. Wish us luck! and even better: Join us on Zwift for a bit at some point and give us a wheel to sit behind!
We’re raising money for Genesis Trust, who do amazing work in our home city of Bath with homeless and vulnerable people.
