Zwift is teasing the release of a New York expansion on Twitter this week, with a short video below sharing some of the details.

When it releases is anyone’s guess though, but we know they’ve been working on it for a while. We actually got the first indication that New York was to be the new riding world on Zwift at Eurobike earlier this year, but since then details have been thin on the ground.
This video gives a bit more away. So we know there’ll be 25km of new roads with ten cycling routes and 13 running routes, a total elevation of 389m, which lets us know there won’t be any massive epic climbs to look forward to.
There’ll also be 498 sycamore trees, 506 lamp posts and 28 hot dog stands!

It’s out Friday.
So whats this ‘run routes’
So whats this ‘run routes’ all about then? Are there ‘smart’ running machines that can be linked up to?
There must surely be mileage in all these games getting together. Imagine a combination of Forza/Gran Turismo, Zwift and Fortnite, all on one platform at the same time.

Aye, and there’s running sensors (Styrd, Garmin, Milestone etc) that you can use with dumb running machines to give speed and/or power estimates amongst other things.
I dont think its a smart
I dont think its a smart treadmill in as much as it changes your incline or speed – rather that you do that and it tell zwift what you’re doing. So like the powermeters we have on the bikes.
Imagine the chaos if a bug in the program told your treadmill to run flat out….
You can get treadmills which
You can get treadmills which alter the incline, there’s a some which which work with Zwift IIRC. Of course the *really* big ones that you can put your bike on as well would make things even more fun in general….
