Strava has updated its app with three new features designed exclusively for mobile devices. Here are details of each one in turn.
• Strava Photos Strava members have already shared millions of photos by linking their Instagram accounts to recorded activities, but you can now attach as many photos as you like to your activities directly from your mobile camera app or photo album.
• My Recent Efforts This allows you to analyse and compare your past segment performances directly from a mobile device.
• Improved leaderboards Redesigned mobile leaderboards now give you easier access to segment rankings among the athletes you follow, your Clubs and the entire Strava community. If you’re a Strava Premium member you can now also access personalised leaderboards from your mobile devices, allowing quick comparisons to other Strava athletes of the same weight or age.

The updated app (version 4.4) is available for download now.
With the exception of updated Premium leaderboards, all the features of version 4.4 are available after updating the Strava app or downloading it free at the App Store or Google Play.
Premium athletes have access to all the new features and leaderboards for £3.99 per month or £39.99 per year.

Is this advancement? And all
Is this advancement? And all I wanted was a display of cadence.

Exactly! It’s odd that cadence is just completely ignored by the Strava apps at the moment.
The photos thing is cool, using Instagram is such a torturous experience that I never bother trying to take a photo on my gentler/scenic rides, I honestly don’t understand why it’s so popular.
I don’t understand how this
I don’t understand how this works, I’ve got version 4.4 but can’t find the picture upload option.
Can you only upload a photo if you’ve recorded your ride using the mobile app? And at what point can you upload the photo? I hope they don’t use the same rules as the Instagram integration (upload has to be within 45 mins of the end of the ride).
Oh, and has there been a price drop for the premium service, I thought it used to be £5.99/£59.99? (Not that I’m complaining about that 🙂 )

This is on my iPhone, it may be different on Android??
Go to your feed, probably easier if you select the filter to show just your rides.
Click on any ride, from any time in history it seems, at the top right of the centre box is a stylised pencil. click on it, this will allow you to edit the ride. You will see the option to attach photos, IT appears and i have no way of knowing, well i have but i haven’t tried, that you can attach any photo to any ride??? You can certainly attach relevant photos.

Woop! Thanks mrmo, I couldn’t figure it out. You were right, the Android interface is different, but the pic upload was still via the ‘edit ride’ dialogue, as on iOS 🙂

Started using Strava for the first time at Christmas, now I’m a big fan especially the stats it’s highly motivating to get out there and put your time, miles and elevation gained in each week.
I also like the heat map which encourages me to go find new roads and see if I can claim all the roads in my area.
They might have updated a
They might have updated a load of random stuff but leader boards no longer show speed, just times over distance. Unless you are a maths whizz and can hold several calculations in your head for the whole leaderboard there is no way of pacing yourself through a segment unless you check online before setting off. Improved not it is.

And it’s STILL not available on Windows Phones (Lumia, or whatever they’re called now….)

All three Windows Phone users ride together, so they just need to pitch in £20 each and buy a cheap Android.

I wish they’d hurry up and sort out the Leaderboards so you could have ones for Mountain Bikes and separate ones for Road bikes. Then I’d go back to paying for premium again.
