If you want to brighten up your bike 3T have added a glow-in-the-dark option to their Ltd stem, handlebars and seatpost.
We told you a couple of weeks ago that you can now have the lightweight Ergonova Ltd handlebar (€345), Arx Ltd stem (€270) and Ionic-25 Ltd seatpost (€235) in six different custom colours. If you go down that route, you get the components with relatively small accents in the relevant colour.
If you go for the Illumina option, though, most of the component is given the glow-in-the-dark treatment. The components are bright white in daylight but have a luminous glow after dark. You can get orange, light blue, pink, blue, green and yellow Illumina finishes.
The prices are:
Ergonova Ltd handlebar €345
Arx Ltd stem €270
Ionic-25 Ltd seatpost €235
These are all high-end components and you’re paying an extra €10-20 for the Illumina finish.
“For year-round riding in low light and after nightfall, the 3T Illumina cockpit shows every road user where you’re at,” say 3T.
We imagine that for a lot of people safety is going to be less important than the cool factor.

Not sure what I think about the glow in the dark stuff… not being funny, the bike I ride in the dark is generally not the bike I put the best components on.

There’s room in the market for all manner of technologies/marketing claptrap at a wide range of prices. If anything, the price of good kit has fallen over the years. And what is introduced at the top end one year, eventually trickles down. A lot of the comments here on prices just sound like sour grapes to me.

I don’t want glow in the dark
I don’t want glow in the dark bar tape but i would like comfortable bar tape ideally in loads of different colours which is also reflective. I have a Rapha backpack that has reflective sides and bottom made from what appear to be little beads. Its pretty effective. Oooohhh, RAPHA REFLECTIVE BAR TAPE!

Deda Zero 100 £35.99 weight 126 grams
Deda Superleggero £72.99 weight 99 grams
Obvisously Dave Arthur would buy the 3t stem as he just agrees with any supplier that gives Road CC free kit to try and is always first to post comment defending rip off pricing.
Secondly which shop is going to stock 3T bars and stems and pricing or for that fact can the import justify the large amount of cash to hold all sizes and colours. You would need at least bars in 40cm, 42cm and 44cm, stem of 10, 12, 13 and 14cm time all 6 colour variations. So that is 40 variations at £300 plus per bar and stem set at retail prices. Good luck to the 3t rep that can sell that to your local bike shop.
Maybe David Arthur might like to give his local bike shop £12,000 of his own money so they can stock these hidious looking over price bars and stems
