Wilier have revealed their first aero road bike with the addition of the Cento 1 Air to their range for 2014.

Wilier say that the new bike is designed to combine the ride qualities of their existing Cento 1 SR road race bike with the aerodynamics of the Twinblade TT frame.

The frameset features Kamm tail tube shaping to minimise drag and an integrated fork – the crown sits within the silhouette of the frame. The rear stays are designed to be aerodynamically efficient too, while the bike also comes with a custom aero seatpost and a seatpost clamp that sits flush with the top tube.

The frame is built around on oversized BB386 Evo bottom bracket/crank system and comes with Wilier`s large, asymmetric chainstays, the idea being to maximise efficiency.

The geometry is almost identical to that of the Cento 1 SR, so it’s very race orientated. The large version of the Cento 1 SR comes with a 554mm stack and 391.5mm reach.

The frame will be available in six sizes, five standard colours and will be available from September. Wilier don’t have a team in the Tour de France this year, Merida having taken over as the bike supplier to Lampre, but we should get to see the bike in more detail when we visit Wilier’s UK distributor, ATB Sales, next week so stay tuned for that.

Unfortunately, we don’t have detailed specs of the new bike yet although the models in the pics are Shimano equipped – both mechanical and Di2. Wilier have yet to confirm prices. For more info you’re your eye on www.wilierbikes.co.uk.
