An Australian journalist has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm after allegedly hitting a cyclist during a test driver of a McLaren supercar.

The Gladstone Observer reports that Amelia Hungerford, who writes for Signature Luxury Travel and Style, had been invited to test drive a McLaren Sport Series Coupé as part of a media event on May 5.

While driving through Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, on Sydney’s upper north shore, she was allegedly involved in a collision with cyclist James Tan.

Tan suffered serious facial and leg injuries.

Hungerford has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle and negligent driving.

She is yet to enter a plea.

The case was due to be heard yesterday but has been adjourned to Manly Local Court on November 14.
