Yeti loves to celebrate an anniversary, having brought special edition bikes for its 25th, 30th and 35th. These landmark specials were built and painted to celebrate the brand’s heritage in classic blue and yellow colourways. However, for the big 40, Yeti harks back to the years of purple anodising in a real mashup of retro and modern aesthetics, but unlike the bikes of the 90s, this one will cost £14,000.

In March last year, Yeti brought the ASR out of retirement, shaping it as a lightweight cross-country ripper. Now, with its 40th Anniversary bike, the brand hasn’t only given it a retro colourway but it gets 10mm more suspension travel at the front, up from 120mm, for a more capable ride and a slightly slacker head tube angle.
It’s built using SRAM’s new Motive brakes, a Fox Float SL shock and Maxxis Forekaster tyres. There’s also the latest Fox 34 SL fork and a collection of purple Chris King trinkets scattered about. That’s all bolted to Yeti’s top-end Turq Series carbon frame.
But perhaps one of the more interesting components on the 40th Anniversary ASR is the custom SRAM XX drivetrain that’s fitted with even more purple anodised bits and pieces. The Motive brakes are silver, too, in a one-off hint of flair. Those Maxxis tyres also get blue hot patches.
Yeti has collaborated with ODI to bring back the Yeti-branded Speed Grips.
With the extra 10mm of suspension up front, the geometry has changed a little with a 75-degree effective seat tube angle, a 460mm reach and a 66.1-degree head tube angle.
