If you’re a regular TV viewer of the Tour de France, you’ll be familiar with the scenario; one of the jersey wearers, or a big-name rider, is spotted trying to get back to the peloton, and immediately there’s speculation as to whether he crashed, or had a puncture or some other mechanical.
Often, there’s a far simpler explanation though, as evidenced by this footage from today’s Stage 10 to Revel when Mark Cavendish was seen chasing back on.
The Dimension Data rider, non-plussed, tells the moto rider and cameraman, “I took a piss,” repeating the phrase for added effect … followed by Eurosport UK’s Carlton Kirby translating that for viewers as the Manxman having taken “a comfort break.”

On a day with a predicted sprint finish he gets upset that the camera is interested in the green jersey being out the back. Every time I get a little bit of respect for Cav as a person (and a lot of his press interviews during the week have been earning him points in my book) he literally pisses on it with childish nonsense behaviour like this.
