Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was punched in the face in Brighton on Friday February 5.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was cycling round the pier roundabout on the seafront at around 8.20pm when he became engaged in a verbal altercation with the passenger in a car which was also travelling west.

The man, who was in a grey Ford Focus, then punched the cyclist in the face causing two fractures to his eye socket.

A 31-year old man from Shoreham was subsequently traced and arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. After being interviewed he was released on police bail until April 4. Enquiries are continuing.
