We've all seen BMXers leaping about in amazing ways on their purpose-built 20-inch-wheeled bikes, but how would they go on something rather heavier and more ponderous? Pretty damn well if this video of Tyrone Williams on a New York Citibike is anything to go by.
Citi Bike's are New York's equivalent of London's Boris Bikes. Launched in May, it was greeted with general approval ands, this being the US, a lawsuit about property values. Wall Street Journal editorial board member Dorothy Rabinowitz called the programme 'dreadful' and accused Mayor Michael Bloomberg of running a 'totalitarian' city government that was 'begriming' the city's best neighbourhoods, as well as trotting out just about every other anti-bike cliché in history.

As impressive as this riding
As impressive as this riding is, it is also incredibly disrespectful to the bikes.
Providing this facility is a fantastic way to promote cycling in the city. If this form of selfish vandalism carries on, the scheme will soon become too expensive to maintain and will be abandoned. Then you’ll be complaining about those ‘anti-cycling’ fools in charge.
Please stop promoting it.
