Newport Velodrome has been swamped by requests by people desperate to try their hand at track cycling, thanks to the Olympic cycling successes over the summer.
Beginner sessions at the track are now booked out until the New Year, with more than 600 applications, and extra 'taster' sessions have been put on to meet some of the demand.
Leisure and culture cabinet member for the council councillor Debbie Wilcox told the South Wales Argus that she could see the “tremendous and lasting impact" of the Olympic Games.
“This legacy is being felt strongly in the Wales National Velodrome,” she added, and reiterated that the facility was for the use of local people, and not just elite athletes.
The last few places on the taster sessions are filling up — to book one visit the Velodrome's website.
