Chelsea and England football star Frank Lampard feared the worst earlier this week when he thought he had run over a 14-year-old boy as he reversed his Range Rover in London.
Instead, he discovered that while the schoolboy was unharmed, his bike had been left in a mangled heap, prompting the midfielder to give £200 to the surprised youngster.
Lampard’s agent, Steve Kutner, told the Mirror: “All sorts of things were going through Frank’s mind. He saw the bike in his mirror and was sure he’d run the boy over.”
He continued: "Frank checked the lad was OK and asked how much the bike cost.
"The boy said it was worth £100, so Frank gave him £200 in cash. It was the least he could do.
"If anything Frank was more upset than the boy," Kutner added.
