Olympic Champion Victoria Pendleton has signed a deal with bakers Hovis to promote its famous bread, you can watch her talk about the new ad in the video below.
The 29-year-old six times World Champion, Commonwealth Champion and Olympic gold winner has recreated Hovis’s famous TV ad from the 1970s, featuring a delivery boy pushing his bike up a cobbled street to the strains of Dvorak’s New World Symphony.
According to the Express, Pendleton spent six hours shoving a similar bike up Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, Dorset, where the original advert was filmed.
She said: “I’m not at all envious of that baker’s boy. My bike is so lightweight I can lift it with one finger – but I wouldn’t fancy pushing a heavy bike like this up the hill like they did in the old times.”
The new campaign will target women aged 18 to 30 and women with families and will feature a string of adverts.

I like that Vicky’s dad
I like that Vicky’s dad appears to have made her do Paris-Roubaix on a tandem when she was a small girl (photo at 22sec).
Guess that’s the upbringing you need to become an Olympic cycling champion.
Perfect. I love Victoria

Plenty of cheese in that video, mainly from the script. Still, (wo)man cannot live on bread alone 😉
