Isaac the Anglo German bike firm noted for it’s high end carbon bikes the Newton, the Sonic and Joule time trial bike has gone in to voluntary liquidation.

At the end of last year the company recalled all complete bikes and framesets made between 2004 and 2008 when it was discovered that certain stem and spacer combinations could cause the forks to fail. Although Isaac maintained that the recall was to do with concerns that “innappropriate assembly procedures” had been followed rather than problems with manufacture of the frames and forks themselves. A source at Isaac that we spoke to today was at pains to point out that the recall was purely preventative, there were no manufacturing problems and no bikes or forks failed and said the company’s current difficulties were more to do with the economy than the product recall.

Only two months ago the Isaac website was trailing the announcement that a “highly successful international pro team” would be riding their bikes in 2009.

If you have an Isaac bike service and warranty will continue to be handled by RBS distribution in the UK. The distributor will also continue to supply Isaac stock to British dealers.

An official announcement is expected today. It is possible that a buyer will be found for the company and production of the bikes will continue Isaac insiders are confident that the brand will continues and new Isaac bikes will continue to be built and sold.
