The stories we run will mainly deal with the British cycling scene, but the site is open to all – we’re starting small, but we’ll be adding new sections new features, and new functionality. I can see compromise coming. Droning round a 20k or whatever lap 10 times will bore the pants off riders, spectators & so ultimately sponsors. That said, we cannot continue putting lives at risk from lack of funding. Maybe some funding from the stupidly expensive streaming services. Maybe cutout some of the tediously long bits, have a combination of laps but keep the sense of adventure, like rallying compared to roundy roundy racing.

Being a councillor doesn't actually give someone a carte blanche to go around spray painting on the public highway. Hopefully the police take an interest in this case of criminal damage (with the evidence helpfully documented by the perpetrator), and the council serves him a graffiti removal notice to recover their cost in removing it.

@capedcrusader It's actually pretty simple - sex (or to more precise: attractive appearance) sells. It works exactly the same way with cars. Making the final product look better often costs next to nothing, but it does add value and thus allows the manufacturer to charge more for the same product.

YMMV. To my eye, while the 'ruby', only available for SRAM S-Works is the clear standout, the rest of the options on the top two tiers (including the single option for Shimano S-Works) are either really boring or, in the case of the two-tone efforts, actively rubbish, while the solid blue that's only available on the bottom two tiers is easily the second best.

@jackcycles It would certainly be interesting to know the prevalence of general cycling amongst children then vs now because its probably pretty unlikely that children who don't cycle much day to day are going to cycle to school.

Why do bike companies insist on differentiating their top tier and lower tier offerings by producing shockingly bad colours for the lower tier bikes? Sucks big time if you ask me.

Winter Clobber Reviews???
How about some articles on winter clobber?
If you are after a starter for ten…………..I am in the market for a warm casual style jacket for shorter rides and commuting that is waterproof and as breathable as possible.
Also in the market for a warm more professional fitting windproof jacket for longer Sunday morning club rides.
Any suggestions and advice welcome?

Yep we’ve got plans to review winter kit, and lots more besides. In the meantime here’s a few jackets to check out.
For commuting any of the Atura Nevis £49, Altura Night Vision £64, Altura CrossMax also £64 or the Altura or the Altura Reflex £99 would do the job (the more you pay the more breathability you get) are you sensing a theme here – I’d go for the Night Vision myself. The Endura Convert II is a good ‘un too – I like that one cos it’s a good performance commuting jacket, it’s got plenty of reflectives but you can wear it off the bike no problem at all AND it converts into a gilet when/if the sun comes out.
For a closer fitting windproof try the Gore Xenon Windstopper – specifically cut for road riding, close fitting, but roomy enough to allow you to layer up underneath on really cold days and, at about £80, it won’t break the bank.

I personally really rate my 2xu membrane jacket. It’ll neet the ‘professional’ fitting windproof criteria, and is generally far more stylish than most road kit. It’s the staple for my winter riding for sure.
One thing I’d like to see is maybe some reviews of lesser known brands (such as the 2xu type stuff) as generally all that gets tested is the uber-niche fakenger stuff or stuff you can get in Evans, which you can go and test for yourself.
