Scott has updated its Addict Gravel with space for tyres up to 57mm wide, increased frame compliance, and frame weights as low as 794g, saying that the new models offer long-ride comfort, stable handling, and the ability to carry what you need.
Increased tyre clearance
Gravel bikes are increasingly coming with clearance for wider tyre – last week we reported on the Ridley Kanzo Fast 2.0’s ability to take 58mm tyres – and the Scott Addict Gravel follows that trend. It was 45mm on the previous model; now it’s 57mm, so you’re not going to be restricted to well-manicured gravel roads here.
The extra tyre clearance is partly down to the use of an ultra-thin chainstay that measures as little as 8.5mm at its slimmest point.This means that the new Addict Gravel can take the biggest gravel tyres on the market and can even cope with 2.2in mountain bike tyres.
More comfort
Scott is making a big deal about the extra comfort that’s on offer from the updated Addict gravel; 30% more compliance up front and 60% extra at the rear, according to the brand’s own statistics.
How come? Scott says that up front, the bowed fork legs, smaller steerer tube (27.2mm) and the new cockpit (more on that in a minute) put in the hard yards to reduce vibration.
Further back, Scott says that the Addict Gravel borrows the reduced cross section of the Addict road bike’s seat tube to increase compliance. Plus the dropped seatstays are designed to flex, and the top tube is said to allow a slight upward deflection too.
“The result is a bike that is significantly more comfortable than the previous generation,” says Scott. “Rear compliance has been improved by 60% with a rigid seatpost. Even if you were already using our comfort seatpost, there is still a 25% improvement. This allows you to stay out longer, explore further, and simply enjoy the ride more.”
Tweaked geometry
Scott says that it has made a few geometry changes designed to improve the Addict Gravel’s comfort and handling.
“The stack is 10mm higher than the previous generation and the reach is 10mm longer, but the cockpit is 10mm shorter to compensate,” says Scott.
The bottom bracket has been lowered – which is something frame manufacturers often do when increasing tyre clearance – and Scott has increased the fork rake “to preserve playful and reactive handling”.
“The result is a longer front-centre, placing the front wheel further ahead,” says Scott. Front-centre is the horizontal distance from the middle of the bottom bracket to the centre of the front wheel axle.
“This improves confidence, especially at speed or on more technical terrain,” says Scott.

The Addict Gravel’s riding position mirrors that of its sibling road bike. It’s now available in seven sizes – up from five – to fit a broader range of rider sizes.
Addict Gravel frame comes in two flavours
As previously, the Addict Gravel is available in two carbon layups.
According to Scott, “The HMF version strikes the perfect balance between lightweight construction, stiffness, and comfort, while the HMX version takes performance to the next level.”
HMX uses higher-modulus carbon, allowing Scott to use less material for a lighter frame while retaining stiffness/strength. HMF is slightly lower modulus, and it’s the more affordable option.
The HMX frame comes with a claimed weight of just 794g. That’s 75g lower than previously.
The HMF frame is just 25g lighter than previously, but that’s enough to see it drop below the 1kg mark, hitting the scales at a claimed 990g.
Scott says that overall stiffness is intentionally lower than on a road bike – by less than 5% – to improve traction and compliance.
“This allows the bike to better adapt to uneven terrain, providing more grip and predictability,” it says. “You still get a precise and efficient ride, but with a more forgiving and confidence-inspiring character.”
Fork mounts
The Addict Gravel’s fork now comes with bottle cage mounts on the legs. This allows you to carry extra liquid in hot conditions or to free up space within the frame for a large bag.
Whereas most fork bottle cage mounts are positioned on the outside of the legs, these sit to the rear. We can’t comment on the practicality – we’ve not used them – but the mounts are certainly inconspicuous when not in use.
“We developed custom mounting brackets to position the bottles in an optimised location,” says Scott. “By placing the weight distribution closer to the steering axis, we reduce inertia by 35%. This results in quicker and more linear handling – even when the bike is fully equipped.”
Extras
The Addict Gravel comes with Syncros’ The Day Kit hidden away inside the down tube’s storage compartment. It holds a spare tube, tyre levers and a mini pump.
You get a T25 key – which fits the stem, handlebar, seatpost, saddle clamps, and bottle cages – and a tubeless repair kit hidden away in the ends of the handlebar too.
There’s also a bag fitted to the underside of the top tube, which is fully removable if you’d prefer to ride without it.
New gravel cockpit
There’s also a new gravel-specific integrated handlebar and stem on the Addict Gravel Premium and Addict Gravel 10 models: the Syncros SYN IC-R501-CF.
“It comes with an increased forward sweep to improve wrist clearance when leaning hard into corners,” says Scott. “Simultaneously, the reach of the cockpit has been reduced to make it easier to switch position between the top and the hoods.
“The new cockpit also features a neutral shifter position. This is achieved through a short vertical section where the shifters are mounted, before the flare begins.
“As a result, the brake levers remain aligned with the drops instead of pointing outward like on most gravel bars.”
