Chris King introduces three new matte hub colours for 2017

New matte colour options added to 2017 hub range, plus a special limited edition flavour

For many well-heeled cyclists there is no finer sight than a pair of Chris King hubs on a bicycle, and now the US firm has expanded its colour range by adding three new matte options for 2017.

The three new colours - Matte Emerald, Matte Jet and Matte Slate - were unveiled at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) over the weekend, and join the existing range of polished hub colour options.

While Jet and Slate are stock colours, Emerald is a limited edition colour and has been created to celebrate 40 years of collaborating with that other maker of fine high-end bicycle products, Moots. Fear not, you don’t need a Moots to justify buying this colour option, but you will have to act quickly as they are only taking orders up until June this year. If you want them best to get on the blower to your local bike shop sharpish.

We’ve no word on UK availability or pricing just yet, but when we know we’ll update this story. There's no sign of matching headsets to go with the hubs, but surely it can only be a matter of time?

What do you think of the new colours?

David worked on the road.cc tech team from 2012-2020. Previously he was editor of Bikemagic.com and before that staff writer at RCUK. He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds, and you can now find him over on his own YouTube channel David Arthur - Just Ride Bikes

Well, they're certainly doing the matching headset in matt (see photo 3 http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/gallery-the-weird-and-wonderful-bi...).

For purple, you'd have to go British and buy Hope 1

How about purple so that all of us who started cycling in the very early 90's could have a massive nostalgia-fest yes ?
