Fantasy Cycling
75-year-old cyclist John Frank, who was stopped after filtering through traffic before a right turn, said he had “neither endangered nor inconvenienced any pedestrian or other road user” and was “following best practice for cyclists at traffic lights”
The officer said riding no handed “places other road users at risk”, as the cyclist criticised the police for fining 285 red-light jumping cyclists in 2025 instead of catching bike thieves and phone snatchers, asking if it's "a good use of police time?”
Lawsuit asks judge to issue injunction against NYPD and ensure damages paid to ticketed cyclists, as rider accuses police of ignoring law that enables cyclists to 'go with the walk' and ride through like pedestrians
Ramsay El-Nakla was also handed six penalty points on his driving licence after leaving the cyclist with minor injuries
Eight-year-old André Castro Ladeiro was struck by the driver of a pick-up truck on a pedestrian crossing during a family cycle in Co. Cork, after checking “no cars were coming”
Surrey Police officers spotted the riders "ignoring a red light" and issued a fixed penalty notice
A Freedom of Information request also found that 196 cyclists were fined £30 throughout 2023 for riding on pavements in the capital
"The majority of cyclists are safe and obey the Highway Code, however, we are educating, engaging and where necessary enforcing those road users who go through red lights, putting themselves and pedestrians at risk"
Some have questioned why Surrey Police initially uploaded a shortened video which only showed the moments following the offence, after a group ride was stopped and issued fixed penalty notices at the weekend
"Stopped these four cyclists after they were observed contravening a red traffic light. Fixed penalty notices issued to all."
