Fantasy Cycling
To make matters worse for the driver involved, the cyclist's camera footage of the incident was sent to the police, and they were offered a Safe and Considerate Driving (SCD) course
UPDATE: Inspector responds to cyclist saying he had not been informed of report's outcome, citing high demand and limited resources for inability to provide updates to video submitter
“Rather than wait a few milliseconds for a safe pass, they missed hitting me by a few centimetres. But two pretty much identical incidents can have very different responses,” the cyclist said
“Going forward if we cannot see any part of the reporting parties bike we will now not proceed with these cases,” said Thames Valley Police
"I had two bright front lights as well as flashing blue lights on my wheel spokes. The bike is massive and well-illuminated in all directions so there is zero excuse for not seeing it."
The cyclist was told by police that if he had crashed the incident would have been treated as a road traffic collision, prompting him to respond: “My next skill to learn is how to fall off gently”
Our regular series featuring close passes from around the country – today it’s southwest London
UPDATE: North Yorkshire Council has told road.cc that a warning letter was issued to the taxi driver “to remind him of his obligations” and that, “in the event of any further concerns, we may consider the driver’s suitability to hold a licence”
"I was lucky I heard him approaching and instinct caused me to move quickly to the left as the driver would have probably hit me"
"It blows my mind that foreign drivers can risk people's lives and have no repercussions"
