Cross-country is an incredibly forward-thinking genre of cycling as bikes are built with all kinds of suspension platforms in the name of gains. One thing that’s dominating elite-level XC circuits is RockShox Flight Attendant. However, some bikes have been unable to take advantage of RockShox’s technology, like the Scott Spark that only recently got its own Flight Attendant shock. Now, the Trek Supercaliber’s IsoStrut suspension is available in Flight Attendant flavour.

Trek’s IsoStrut is certainly one of the more unique suspension platforms on the circuit but it’s been taking the likes of Evie Richards to great success. The bike that uses the system, the Supercaliber, relies on IsoStrut as a structural component as well as suspension, so packaging Flight Attendant on yet another quirky design is a challenge that doesn’t come quite as simply as pairing it with RockShox’s existing SIDLuxe shock.

Now found at the top of the IsoStrut unit, Supercaliber riders can benefit from the might that Flight Attendant offers and the latest algorithm that made 1,325 adjustments throughout Nino Schurter’s race that bagged him his 34th World Cup victory. This tech can then be tuned to match the rider’s needs while reading the terrain, riding style and physical capabilities.

That’s thanks to AdaptiveRide, which learns from the rider’s inputs, allowing Flight Attendant to make better-informed adjustments, and make the bike more efficient anywhere it’s required. For those not in the know, Flight Attendant automatically adjusts the suspension compression settings on the fly.

Although this is on a new shock, the standard AXS batteries will still work and the SIDLuxe Ultimate IsoStrut Flight Attendant shock can be bought as an aftermarket upgrade for any existing Supercaliber owners out there and it’ll set you back £849. Of course, this must be purchased with a complete Flight Attendant system including a fork and BB unit for it to work.
