Spanish mountain bike brand Mondraker has launched two new models to its hardtail Chrono range. The new Chrono DC and Chrono DC R are downcountry-specific hardtails that come with slacker geometry and more travel than the rest of the range.

Mondraker says the new Chrono models are more than conventional hardtails, they’re made for riders who “enjoyed maximum trail feedback, love hardtails and ride descents flat out”.

The frames have been built totally anew from the brand’s Stealth aluminium and feature a more trail-focused geometry than the rest of the Chrono range. The head-angle on the new models is 68.5 degrees, meaning it’s 1.5 degrees slacker than in the existing Chrono and Chrono Carbon ranges, and the fork travel has increased to 120mm.

Mondraker has focused on making this bike very specific for being fun and versatile, both on technical trails and also when bombing down hills fast. And when you want to stop, it should be no problem with the larger 180mm rotors that Mondraker has fitted at the front.

Both new Chrono models come with a factory-fitted dropper post and Maxxis Ardent 29×2.4in tyres and feature a shorter stem to add confidence on techy trails. The S/M frame gets a 50mm stem, L comes with a 60mm and the XL with a 70mm stem.

Both models get SRAM 12-speed shifting and SRAM brakes. The Chrono DC comes with a RockShox Judy Silver TK 29 fork and Chrono DC R with a ox 32 29 Float GRIP EVOL Rhythm.
