We’ve got brand new bags from CamelBak this week, after spying new ones at the 2019 NEC Cycle Show we quickly got them into test. There is also waterproof gear from Dexshell and one of the new Adventure bikepacking bags from Bontrager. Dig in….

Dexshell waterproof kit

Dexshell Ultra Dri Sports Socks

Said to be 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable the Dexshell socks looks ripe for some winter riding. The brand uses a PORELLE® membrane which provides the waterproofing and the breathability too.  Using a merino wool liner and a terry loop footbed they sound super comfy. We have some in a size large and a small (four sizes available) and in two bright colourways.

Dexshell Adults Single Pom Cable Beanie

Using the same PORELLE® lining as the socks this ladies beanie is waterproof and windproof with a stylish cosy looking knitted outer. Inside is fleece lined and uber soft to the touch.

Dexshell Gradient Beanie Hat

If you aren’t into pom poms then the Dexshell beanie has all the same bad weather credentials and its two quid cheaper too. It comes in a range of colours but it’s just a one-size-only deal.

Bontrager Adventure Top Tube Bag

This is Bontrager’s first foray into bike packing bags.  Our news piece on the release of these bags was clicked on a lot, if that’s anything to go by, we reckon these bags will be mighty popular. The top tube bag is 1.2L in capacity and can be mounted via straps or top tube bolts if you have them.

New CamelBak bags

CamelBak Skyline LR10 backpack

The low riding Skyline gets a revamp for 2020, it’s got a totally new look and a re-design in terms of how the whole system is supported at the waist. The newly named ‘dual wing belt’ has got a very sturdy feel to it, as has the back panel with a new design to aid ventilation. The upper straps use predominantly mesh and the bag still fits a large 3 litre Crux water reservoir. There are no pictures on the CamelBak site at this time but UK distributor Zyro-Fisher do have some details, although no photo either. It looks like there will be a new women’s Solstice version too at the same price

CamelBak Stash Belt Hip Pack

This waist bag is brand new and looks to be closely linked to the Ultra Belt aimed at trail runners. The Stash belt gets a wide ventilated front section and two elongated pockets at the rear. The rear compartments add up to 2 litres of carrying capacity and it’s pretty light.

CamelBak Podium Flow Belt

Also a 2L capacity waist bag, the Podium Flow has additional storage for a water bottle. It comes with a Podium Dirt Series 21oz bottle with a mud cap. It’s a little larger and heavier than the Stash Belt and it is secured with adjustable straps and a buckle as you’d normally see on the waist strap of a rucksack.
