Sunday started rainy and terrible, due to some asthmatic issues I've largely avoided riding outside since the cold will put me out of action for around two weeks. The suncame out for an hour before dark, it was warm enough to ride in tights and arm warmers... It was fantastic, only got in 11m before it got dark, but that's the first ride since February for me. I'm still geeked about it.
Did 100 miles from Friday to Monday
29th 34miles - 2 hours
30th 52 3:20 (multiple wardrobe malfunctions - cheap gear always a mistake)
31st - chauffeur
1st - 16 miles : first half into a gale, 2nd half blown back - yeehaaa !
blooming marvellous .
Firt club run in a while (been bringing up kids these last few years), a cool 50 miles but nice a sunny and good company too. Going to do a lot more in future I hope
I did my first metric century - 65 miles so 104km. Avg speed of 14.5mph
I was riding (for the first time) with guys who ride a lot faster than me and I have to admit that I was out of depth a bit. Luckily, they were good lads who looked after me and slowed the pace. Weather was rubbish though - cold and a head or side wind for the whole trip - it seemed to change direction as we did.
Good achievement though and I'm pleased to have done it; even if I can't move at the moment!
A short (but steep in places) trip from Macclesfield to Buxton via the Cat and Fiddle (with a vicious head wind), down to Whaley Bridge and returning to Macclesfield via Saltersford. It was bitterly cold in the wind, but glorious out of it.
Rode the 259km Ronde Van Vlaanderen cyclo on saturday, amazing ride, brilliant to hit those cobbled climbs and experience a classic course like that.
Was really well run, police closing roads so cyclists could go through, friendly riders. people supporting on the side of the roads, great great experience, and would highly recommend to anyone to do.
Nice work, getting warmer but the wind is not so kind eh?
Managed a couple of outings, nothing special, blowing off the cobwebs with a 58.5 minute time trial with 3 laps of the ever lovely Richmond Park early on Saturday. Hate getting up at 5.30 a.m. but love being out on quiet roads.
Just got back from a few hill reps. Wouldn't call it pleasant but it's warm and hills are preferable to battling head winds like your good self. I'd prefer a freezing still day to a windy warm day.
Went out on the Sunday club run. 56 miles in 4 hours. Nice sunshine and it stayed dry but bitterly cold headwind on the way back which was most unpleasant. Just glad to be able to get out and the roads being clear of snow although there were one or two icy patches.
