Vuelta Prizes

Hello, thought I'd ask this before the Vuelta to avoid the kerfuffle we had during the tour.

What prizes are there for the Vuelta?

Is there a Purist prize?

If so what is it?

And finally, who wins the purist prize, whichever purist is first or the leading premium purist?

If you've got any more questions for the road.cc guys tack them on the end and hopefully we'll get answers before the Vuelta kicks off.

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

Stage prizes don't have ANY effect on premium though folks.

Stage prizes are open to EVERYONE 19

The overall prizes are premium only

Not going to happen now guys. If there was stage prizes they would have been announced before the race.

Cant retrospectively hand them out now. Just the same as there were none for the Giro 3

Dave did say they were to be confirmed. I think there should be prizes for most stages. £10 a season for extra races alone is not great

I'm suddenly interested in the stage prizes too after my demolition job on Saturday! Any news?

Hi Dave

You said that the stage prizes were TBC. Any confirmation as yet to what if anything you win for a stage prize?
Cheers

Official statement from Fantasy Cycling HQ: We've stroked our beards and thumbed through the dusty Fantasy Cycling rulebook and have concluded...there will be no Young Riders competition in the Fantasy Vuelta game.

As there is no Young Rider jersey being contested in the actual Vuelta we have also removed it from the game. Sorry for any confusion caused, hope this gives everyone enough time to tinker with their starting line-up.

Buena suerte!

Could we find a way of avoiding confusion vis-a-vis young riders?

Gkam is right, read the thread, that practice has been officially approved.

Also, thanks for the clarification Dave, hoping to have a right good go at the purist comp for this one.

not much point shutting the door at 5am on saturday when the stage doesn't kick off until 6pm...

stage deadlines have been set in accordance with the stage start times at http://www.lavuelta.com/12pr/en/recorrido/index.html

some are earlier than others, there's no super early ones like there was in the tour though. mostly 11am to 1pm UK time.

main prizes are listed on the website and also in the email you probably got this morning. stage prizes still TBC. yes there'll be a purist prize (TBC), which anyone can win.

Thanks Dave, thats ideal - get the start times in advance and set the deadlines accordingly. 4

Agree over the deadline for transfers though. Make it 5am as suggested so no one gets caught out.

No picking of riders for minor values such as 2.4 credits who aren't riding so that you can load up on higher value riders who are.

There was a big arguement over this a couple of weeks ago.

You can use whoever you see fit, whether riding or not 3

Agreed, but it's also wrong to change deadlines at short notice. Fixed deadlines should be fixed, they ideally should be fixed for a time before the racing starts but if by some chance they are not then they should not be changed at no notice.

Safest way it to have them all close at 5am 4

On stage times, I would say that if a stage closing time is quoted on the stage details, or if one is confirmed in advance, then road.cc shouldn't change it, even if it's after the stage start time.

Sometimes stages start early and it's not ideal to have racing ongoing before the transfer window closes but that's better than jerking people around and stopping them from getting their transfers in if they think they've got plenty of time before the publicised deadline.

Only other thing I'd want road.cc to keep an eye on is the start times of the stages - to make sure that the transfer deadline countdown clock is always correct. Been caught out a couple of times with it saying for example 4 hours to deadline and then 2 hours later the window has closed as the stage started early.

Apart from that, and clarification on young riders as per other thread, all is GREAT. 4
