I think a million pounds would be about right. Certainly an incentive for me to climb up from 1295th!!
I actually won a Garmin 800 last year on a very similar rival competition: Halfords TdF.
Embarrassed about my start .... and also a day late!
Dave I will be happy with Emma Pooley handing me the trophy (her winter training includes my summer daily commute)
i suspect you could get quite a decent bike for what it'd cost to have vicky p come down and hand over your trophy in person
Now there's an incentive to win...
If we're going to put names into the hat Laura Trott, Jessica Varnish and Dani King would do my happily
What could road.cc make with a £3,000 frame , a couple of wheels at £1,000 apiece, SRAM gears, some carbon forks, Shimano Dura ace gears and Ritchey handlebars, stem etc.
Answer. A pretty nice trophy.
I suggest Victoria Pendleton to present the trophy.
Although it makes more business sense to bring in the punters for the TdF, a moderate prize of a cycling nature for the overall does seem fair for the amount of effort we put in. Though I wouldn't object to a trophy as well!!
Talking of craik, why dont we organise an end of season get together then everyone who wins a prize can have it presented by Dave or someone famous
As I've only just joined (and missed the tdu): who cares about an overall prize!
I know that fluffy, was just having some craik with you
I sussed that
I agree - prizes are not needed for this game to be fun.
(I do want/NEED the season long trophy though - so close, yet so far away last year).
How about a pair of one-off socks emblazoned with "Road.cc Fantasy Cycling Legend", better something you can wear than some lump of metal cluttering up your home. Better yet, stick with cycling prize tradition and offer £1 for every point scored through the season.
Completely agree, it's at the end of the year knowing your numero uno a bit like Gilbert of the fantasy world
OK Dave. I agree with your point of view
Prizes, we don't need no prizes
I'm just here for the craik
Did you not read the sign's?? Please mind the craik, you may slip, trip or go over the handlebars and Road.cc are not liable for any injury you may cause yourself
@Gkam84
That's CRAIK
Not CRACK, as in crackpot
Guile, Cunning, Subterfuge......................DONT forget Sabotage
Ahh good old fashioned sabotage but let's not talk too much about that one folk will get wise and we don't want that
What does it mean that you are making
A trophy?
Personally I think that an overall
Prize should be worth more than
Race prizes. But it is your choice
it wasn't last year, and it won't be this year either.
fantasy cycling isn't like fantasy football in that regard - it's more about the tour de france or the spring classics than it is about the season as a whole. that's why we're concentrating on that aspect. there'll be an overall prize, but since only a small minority of people will have any chance of winning it – the ones that were in at the start - it doesn't make sense to make it the main one.
It's the knowledge that you've bested everyone over the season and beaten them all through guile, cunning and subterfuge. You don't kneed a fañcy prize for that. The fact that you've ran circles round everyone is enough!!!!
When you say We're going to "make" a trophy
Please tell your going to make one and not a bought one with an engraving on it
Could turn out like those limited edition SRAM statue things
We're going to make a trophy.
No, really. We are.
This years prize is free entry to next years comp
A place on the L'Etape Du Tour 2013
That would sort out the cyclists to the gamers
Btw, i noticed you come on here on a mobile phone? Any chance its android?
