In car entertainment (?)

The car as entertainment, the car as our virus-free “safe” pod and our exclusive entry-point into all that’s cool and happening. Calling all cargo bike/ trike riders...

Plans for UK-wide drive-in gigs announced

Oh good. The illustration in the BBC news story takes us into car ad fantasy land: all carefree and fun.
I guess I’m tilting at windmills to a degree because all that’s described here leaves me stone cold.
Poor Fido - “you like Tony Hadley, don’t you boy, don’t you?” can’t come in, but he does have the option of being terrified by the pyrotechnics at home.

If they’re checking tickets through closed windows, not sure how they are going to control food and drink, and anything else people habitually bring to rock concerts, that they’d normally have gone back to their tent with. In this rather anodyne setting, with numbers limited, perhaps we’ll be spared the usual litany of stabbings and assaults?

I assume you have to enter a reg plate to buy tickets? wouldn’t it be nice if they linked to DVLA and said beep! not insured, no MOT. As we get further into an era of ID checks, wouldn’t it be nice if if you’ve got more than, oh I don’t know 6 penalty points, the machine went beep!...

Drive-in gigs sounds like a disaster to me. Cars are not a great way of moving thousands of people into and out of an area at the same time, so there's just going to be huge lines of vehicles belching fumes into our air (hopefully most will turn their engines off whilst waiting).

They are talking about 300 cars at each gig. So shouldn't be too much of a nightmare.

Unlike around the Glastonbury site each year. Glad to be spared a lot of these things this year.
Makes you wonder how nightly ticket sales of 300 make it worthwhile?

I guess at least 600 people going ? Maybe they're going to ramp the prices up.  Perhaps people will pay big bucks just for any type of gig this year ?

That's probably more manageable, but then I've seen gridlocks caused by tailbacks at supermarket car parks with similar numbers.
