Sweden's Poc has officially revealed its new Ventral Air helmet which is currently being worn by EF Education First riders in the Tour Down Under.
Poc says that the Ventral Air has "a focus on extreme levels of ventilation, very low weight and high levels of protection".
"The unique design of the Ventral Air... has been influenced by the Octal and Ventral," says Poc, referring to existing helmets in its range.
"The result is a structurally optimised helmet which features precise ventilation ports and internal channels to control the air intake and release at both high and low speeds, which enhances ventilation as well as the rider’s ability to reduce drag.
"The Ventral Air is exceptionally lightweight yet features a fully wrapped uni-body shell construction for extra security and an EPS liner which is optimised for the perfect balance between weight and safety. The helmet also features POC’s patent pending silicone pad system, SPIN (Shearing Pad INside)."

Poc claims a weight of 230g for the CE (European Economic Area certification mark) version of this helmet in a medium size.
Although Poc says it has used CFD (computational fluid dynamics) testing in the design of the helmet in order to improve the aerodynamic performance and minimise air turbulence, it doesn't offer any statistical claims relating to drag.
