A double dose today with one rider suffering two contrasting close passes in Sussex on Sunday – one quick and rural, the other slower and urban.
Both incidents have been reported to police, who are yet to respond.
The first took place on the A2037 Henfield Road and the second on The Old Steine in Brighton.
Video uploader Diado writes: “Thankfully I rarely encounter close passes on my ride, at least not really bad ones. Yesterday, however, Sussex graced me with two. The first was at speed and [put the] willies up me, as it were, and the second seemed very, very deliberate, and made me angry to say the least.”
Diado says that in the second instance, the driver pulled alongside and looked across before moving towards him, brake-checking him afterwards for good measure.
> Near Miss of the Day turns 100 - Why do we do the feature and what have we learnt from it?
Over the years road.cc has reported on literally hundreds of close passes and near misses involving badly driven vehicles from every corner of the country – so many, in fact, that we decided to turn the phenomenon into a regular feature on the site. One day hopefully we will run out of close passes and near misses to report on, but until that happy day arrives, Near Miss of the Day will keep rolling on.
If you’ve caught on camera a close encounter of the uncomfortable kind with another road user that you’d like to share with the wider cycling community please send it to us at info [at] road.cc or send us a message via the road.cc Facebook page.
If the video is on YouTube, please send us a link, if not we can add any footage you supply to our YouTube channel as an unlisted video (so it won't show up on searches).
Please also let us know whether you contacted the police and if so what their reaction was, as well as the reaction of the vehicle operator if it was a bus, lorry or van with company markings etc.

Not a fan of that road past the pavilion, everyone's drag racing to get to the next red light. I can never understand why people get so desperate and break the speed limit to overtake, only to have to hit the brakes at the next red light fifty metres down the road.
Guess you are old and/or don't drive.
The problem with having a car in the UK is there are very few places where you can test how fast you can accelerate and brake, so as a young person take the opportunity to do this.
As you get older - some people have to get much older -, can afford more expensive cars and have driven on more roads you simply don't bother.
First one - must have illegally crossed the double white line.
Second one - should result in a long ban but unlikely. Would be interesting to know the speed of the cyclist given it was a 20mph limit.
Speed of the cyclist doesn't matter.
There are old men and women e.g. people 80+ who cycle in my area it doesn't mean as a car driver you try and send them to the grave early just because they are going slowly.
I think hirsute probably meant that in a 20 mph zone, the cyclist is more likely to be going close to the speed limit of the road, making the overtake even less worthwhile for the motorist.
Yes that, and that would also suggest the driver was speeding.
stopped wearing my 'Polite' vest... seems to encourage closer punishment passes as they know I'm not Police...
now wear a hi-viz vest with the logo of a local building company on it... not wearing lycra and a helmet as well also helps...
I think I am going to get "Smile, you're on camera" printed on my rucksack cover in reflective lettering!
I've been thinking a hi-viz backpack cover with a speed camera sign, made out of yellow flashing LEDs might be quite a nice Kickstarter project.
The race is on Andyeb! I'm on the lookout for a plain hi-viz vest on which to draw, as professionally as possible, a 'Speed Camera' logo as a mock-up.
That second one is a peach...ankles!
