Colomba Chemo Classic scheduled for November

Pro riders lined up for second edition of Dales charity ride

If you fancy rounding off your cycling year in the company of some of the UK’s pro peloton, the Colomba Chemo Classic charity ride could be for you.

The ride will take place on Saturday, November 13 in the Yorkshire Dales and last year 155 riders took part, raising over £4000 for Cancer Research. That inaugural event was organised to raise money for the cause, following Colomba rider Rob Knibbs’ successful battle against Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The 2010 route is unchanged from last year and takes in some of the finest scenery in the Yorkshire Dales with every chance of some challenging weather conditions thrown in for good measure.

According to the organisers, everyone who took part in the inaugural edition ended the day looking "slightly weathered" but satisfied, with only a handful of riders opting to take advantage of the support vehicles to take them home early.

In 2009, pro cyclists Geraint Thomas, Ben Swift, Alex Dowsett, Ian Stannard and Adam Blyth joined amateur riders for the 65 mile spin, and most of the pros have confirmed their participation again this year.

The route starts and finishes in Richmond and is said to be suitable for riders of all abilities. Entry costs £15 with all proceeds going to charity. For more information, click here.
