The owners of a bike shop in Manchester have appealed for information after a gang used a sledgehammer to force their way into the premises on Saturday night and made off with bicycles worth £5,000.
CCTV footage of the burglary at King Kog Cycles, located on Bury New Road in Prestwich, was shared by the independent business on its Facebook page.
The gang, using hoods to try and conceal their identity, used a crowbar to prise open the shop’s security shutters before one used a sledgehammer to break the glass in the door, setting off the alarm.
It took the six members of the gang less than a minute from opening the shutter to making off with the five bikes.
The gang, using hoods to try and conceal their identity, used a crowbar to prise open the shop’s security shutters before one used a sledgehammer to break the glass in the door, setting off the alarm.
Two of the bikes stolen belonged to customers of the store, and a reward is being offered for the return of the five mountain bikes – three GT models, a Saracen, and a black Trek Fuel 8 – that were stolen.
A spokesman for the shop, quoted on ITV News, said: "We got an alarm call to say the alarm was sounding and jumped in the car to get there, but they had already gone.

“They crowbarred open the roller shutters then smashed the door through.
“It is an awful feeling. I would appeal to anyone with information to contact the police. We want the bikes back but the customer’s bikes are the priority.”
Greater Manchester Police are investigating the burglary and have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 or the charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
