East Of England Showground, Oundle Road, Alwalton, Peterborough, PE2 6XE
Epic Route: 82miles
Standard Route: 54miles
Be among the first riders of the year to ride against the clock through the quiet, tranquil lanes in the three counties, the route leads out of the East of England Showground, heading south-west past the Grantham Water reservoir before starting on a loop that begins in Staughton Highway.
Epic route riders then separate in Stonely, bearing north as far up as Luddington in the Brook, while Standard entrants cross the River Kym and complete a circular split that Epic riders will come to later in the day.
A handful of Roman roads make for pain-free and linear miles for large parts of the course, for those that want to churn out the distance in a respectable time. Plus challenging gradients are limited making this the ideal ride to ease you back into life in the saddle, just in time for the start of the new cycling season!
The last few miles face downhill, allowing you to empty the tank before crossing what will be the first finish line of the year for most.
