Video: Nottingham Critical Mass riders help stranded motorist

Cyclists shove a car off the road – but in a good way

The Critical Mass movement is occasionally criticised for the way in which some protest rides have resulted in conflict between participants and motorists. However, one such event in Nottingham last month saw riders coming the aid of a stranded driver whose car had broken down.

While traversing the BBC roundabout, the cyclists spot a driver who has broken down and offer to go and give her a push.

The roundabout in question is the one on which Reginald Scot was involved in a hit and run in November 2014. The driver involved was captured on video accelerating into the back of the cyclist but Nottinghamshire Police said there was not enough evidence to prosecute.

The car was a hire vehicle that had been sub-leased through a number of different companies. A 54-year-old man who was eligible to drive it received six penalty points and a £150 fine for failing to provide driver details.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.
