History of cycling exhibition

Exhibition explores social history of cycling from the Penny Farthing to the BMX

Cycling can be a hairy enough experience these days but imagine the top hat-crumpling trauma of being thrown over the handlebars of a Penny Farthing (or ordinary for the purists out there).

You can find out more about the history of two-wheeled transport in a new exhibition, imaginatively entitled “Get On Yer Bike”, at the Lancaster City Museum.

The exhibition gives an insight into the history of pedal power from the Penny Farthing to the BMX and also takes a look at the health and environmental benefits of cycling in the 21st century.

A partnership between Lancaster City Museum and the Cycling Demonstration Town Team, it can be visited until April 18.
