Cycling video roundup: Snow bike, fire bike, track crashes + more

Learn how to keep your distance + flaming mountain bikes, ToB, BMX & more in today's video round-up!...

If you're anything like us here at road.cc towers it doesn't take much to distract you on a Friday afternoon.  If you're already resigned to an unproductive afternoon, why not use your time wisely and tuck into some fantastic cycling videos?

The road.cc cycling video round-up is here to see you through that last long boring afternoon of the week.

First up we're going to get your heart rate going, this Facebook compilation of track cycling crashes should do the trick and if that doesn't the BMX trick fail should.

We've then got Vittorio Brumotti taking to snow covered slopes on a very strange contraption. A particularly funny road safety campaign is next, followed by promos for this year's Tour of Britain and next year's European cycling conference Velo-city which is going to the continent's shining light in cycling infrastructure, the Netherlands.

We've then got an interesting partnership announcement from professional cycling team Lotto Fix ALL, a flaming mountain bike, a beautiful MTB adventure video, and an interesting question about Tokyo's thousands of cyclists and the city's lack of infrastructure.

Huge track cycling crash compilation

Track cycling is dangerous, there's no two ways about it. At least we don't see any feet-long splinters sticking out of cyclist limbs here...

How to bend a BMX wheel

Also dangerous. We've seen our fair of BMX injuries here on the video round-up over the years, this one doesn't go that way, unbelievably and fortunately

Brumotti boards, by bike

Check the snow bike hybrid of @brumottistar We wonder whether we could use it at some mountain stage!

A video posted by Tinkoff (@tinkoff_team) on

We've seen this man do some genuinely unbelievable things on a road bike, but if you told us he'd be riding a road bike on a snowboard down a mountain we definitely wouldn't believe you.

While that's not quite what's going on here, it is nearly. So that's what we're going with. We can't believe it!

Distance makes all the difference

We're not sure a week goes by where we don't see a close pass video or a high profile cycling celebrity lambasting road infrastructure and the dangers of sharing roads with big steel vehicles.

Here's a handy visual guide for road users on how to keep your distance in more situations than simply when you're on the road.

Tour of Britain 2016 promo

The Tour of Britain's happening again this year. Here's a preview featuring all the usual suspects.

Velo-city 2017 promo

If you had to choose somewhere to hold the premier international planning conference on cycling, where would you hold it?

No, Copenhagen is the wrong answer. While the Dane's innfrastructure is lightyear's ahead of ourse, the cycling capital of the world can arguably be found in the Netherlands.

Taking place in the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegan, the 2017 conference already has its own promo video - such good planning.

Lotto's bizarre new partnership announcement

Professional cycling team Lotto are having a rebrand.

We're not sure what on earth we could say about this video that would enhance it in any way. Enjoy.

A flaming mountain bike

How to warm up your tires before a race start??

Posted by Yoann Barelli on Friday, 26 February 2016

How do you warm-up before a ride?

Nothing quite as extreme as this, we hope.

Stunning Diamondback adventure video

While we're on the topic of our larger tyre preferring cousins in the mountain bike world, this video cropped up on our radar.

If you like things with two wheels and incredible scenery, you'll like this video. It doesn't matter that the bikes a bit different. We're not ones to discriminate here.

Tokyo's got loads of cyclists but no bike lanes, why?

Finally, did you know that Tokyo has a cycling problem?

No, not like that. A stellar 14% of all journeys in the Japanese capital take place by bike, despite the complete lack of bike lanes and cycling infrastructure.

Here's a look into why so many Japanese people cycle in the face of pretty dangerous conditions.
