On-bike video: Jérémy Roy avoids another spectacular crash

FDJ.fr rider's bike handling skills (and lucky camera) get him out of trouble again...

We don't know if FDJ.fr rider Jérémy Roy is superstitious, but he may wish to have a lucky camera on board his bike more often if his charmed life at this week’s Santos Tour Down Under is anything to go by. In today’s final stage, he once again used his bike handling skills to avoid a crash, not the first time such an incident has been caught on video in the race by the camera attached to his bike.

The chute took place on the final lap and happened with more than 3 kilometres remaining, so those unlucky enough to be caught up in it weren’t awarded the same time as stage winner Wouter Wippert of Drapac.

That was bad news for Tinkoff-Saxo’s Michael Rogers, who dropped out of the top ten in the overall standings as a result of the crash. Race winner Rohan Dennis was up ahead, kept safely out of trouble by his BMC Racing team.

They show me what a terrifying place it is to be in a sprint pack when they're going for the line! Just watching it with no crashes is exhilarating.

That didn't take long; on-bike cameras are already just crash-cams, glorifying pain, injury and destruction.

That's a bit of a stretch isn't it ? They're not just showing crashes and they're not glorifying it either - there was a couple of crashes and the guy with the camera was there at the time... would you prefer it if they didn't show that in with all the other stuff ?
