Chantelle Lee from the Perfect Hour videoVideo: Alex Dowsett's Hour Record attempt—the official song
Great sporting events and pop songs go together like curry and chapatis. Think of New Order's World in Motion or, of course, Kraftwerk's Tour de France or Everybody Wants To Run The World by Tears For Fears. For Alex Dowsett's Hour Record attempt in February 2015, the Movistar team offers, er, some badly lip-synched Europop.
Perfect Hour was written & performed by Chantelle Lee and produced by Daniel Carasco. The video features artily shot footage of Dowsett and other Movistar riders training, intercut with Ms Lee singing and bopping about.

Dowsett makes his attempt on the record at 7pm on February 27 at the Lee Valley Velopark, aka the London Olympic velodrome. Adult tickets start from £27.50.
John has been writing about bikes and cycling for over 30 years since discovering that people were mug enough to pay him for it rather than expecting him to do an honest day's work.
He was heavily involved in the mountain bike boom of the late 1980s as a racer, team manager and race promoter, and that led to writing for Mountain Biking UK magazine shortly after its inception. He got the gig by phoning up the editor and telling him the magazine was rubbish and he could do better. Rather than telling him to get lost, MBUK editor Tym Manley called John’s bluff and the rest is history.
Since then he has worked on MTB Pro magazine and was editor of Maximum Mountain Bike and Australian Mountain Bike magazines, before switching to the web in 2000 to work for CyclingNews.com. Along with road.cc founder Tony Farrelly, John was on the launch team for BikeRadar.com and subsequently became editor in chief of Future Publishing’s group of cycling magazines and websites, including Cycling Plus, MBUK, What Mountain Bike and Procycling.
John has also written for Cyclist magazine, edited the BikeMagic website and was founding editor of TotalWomensCycling.com before handing over to someone far more representative of the site's main audience.
He joined road.cc in 2013. He lives in Cambridge where the lack of hills is more than made up for by the headwinds.

Having now listened to it, I expect this will be played quite a lot during his record attempt. Hmmm.
Pretty girl, nice enough voice (for heavily processed dance music purposes), but I hope Dowsett's better than that video shows (filmed in Essex if I'm not mistaken).
Incidentally - I assume he'll be training at the velodrome leading up to the attempt, might drop in and watch

Oh dear, just watched the video and I'm beginning to think I'm in to this cycling lark a bit too much when I'm spending more time looking at the bikes and thinking I'd like to ride them rather than the being more appreciative of the lovely Ms Lee
I really must cut down on the Christmas sherry. I thought for a minute this said that there's an official song of Dowsett's record attempt.
