Police seek witnesses to fatal incident in Vauxhall this morning

A cyclist has been killed this morning following a collision with a tipper lorry at Vauxhall in south London. He is believed to be the sixth cyclist to have died in a road traffic incident in the capital this year.

According to the Metropolitan Police, who were called to the scene just before 7am by the London Ambulance Service, the 52-year-old male rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased, but await next of kin and formal identification.

The fatal collision took place in Parry Street, which forms part of the Vauxhall one-way system.

Police say the lorry involved stopped at the scene but so far no arrests have been made.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or the events leading up to it is asked to call police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
