The Brtitish cycling web page has a club finder function.  I just used that to find this.

    Oops, beaten to it.

    Achieved something I hadn’t

Achieved something I hadn’t done before.  My team for the last stage were placed 1 to 8.  I wasn’t alone in doing this, but we didn’t even win the stage!

They are both made by Campagnolo.

I have believed that Racing 3s are Zonda equivalents with 5s being inferior.

Plus he knew he couldn’t beat

Plus he knew he couldn’t beat Viviani or Bennett if he waited for a sprint.  Do the same thing on the sprint stages and get the same results.  Try something and it might come off.

Unfortunately for both you and I, a top 5 was meaningless for him.  Throwing the dice and making his Giro a success by winning a stage another way was his gamble to take.

Worst decision by him, or worst decision by us?  Probably the lattter.  At least I had 3 transfers so both Bennett and Viviani went in.

    Yes, Kittel and Philipsen.

Yes, Kittel and Philipsen.  It has been a tough race to manage transfers.

I swapped out George Bennet & Bilbao for Wellens and Battaglin with a view to the next 3 stages.

I was tempted to bring a couple of sprinters in but decided to err on the side of caution.

    Hopefully it paid off. 🙂

Two sprinters, Sam Bennett a success, the other not.

I thought that was the old definition Sniffer. Maybe Cyclescheme are pushing the ‘common sense’ tax boundaries. I’m sure that the local tax inspector would love a telephone call to discuss the merits of 105 over Tiagra :-)

It might be old, but I copied it from the website today.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cycle-to-work-scheme-implementation-guidance

It seemed a better source than the companies that make commision on the sales.

To be honest I don’t object to the rules being applied liberally, but the area semed more nuanced than some of the posters were making out.

Cycle to work schemes are only for full bikes or safety kit. Using a voucher for anything else is a tax fiddle.

Categorically incorrect. The cycle to work scheme can be used for bikes, clothing, accessories or components.

Best to go the source.  Cut and paste from the government website advice to employers

    2) What equipment is included under the tax exemption?

Eligible equipment includes cycles and cyclists’ safety equipment. The tax exemption defines a “cycle” as ‘a bicycle, a tricycle, or a cycle having four or more wheels, not being in any case a motor vehicle’ (192(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (c.52)). An electrically assisted pedal cycle can be included under the scheme.

Cyclists’ safety equipment is not similarly defined in the legislation and a common sense approach should be taken to the equipment provided. This could include:

Cycle helmets which conform to European standard EN 1078
    Bells and bulb horns
    Lights, including dynamo packs
Mirrors and mudguards to ensure riders visibility is not impaired
    Cycle clips and dress guards
Panniers, luggage carriers and straps to allow luggage to be safely carried
    Child safety seats
Locks and chains to ensure cycle can be safely secured
Pumps, puncture repair kits, cycle tool kits and tyre sealant to allow for minor repairs
Reflective clothing along with white front reflectors and spoke reflectors

It is the employer’s choice what safety equipment is offered, but you may wish to confirm with your local tax inspector whether the equipment you provide falls within the tax exemption.

If I was an employer I would struggle to defend thw purchase of a groupset.

I made a couple of transfers from yesterday.  The sprinters don’t return until stage 7 so I’ve picked up a couple of GC guys who are doing well and a punt for todays stage.  Most points still to come in the mountains.

No changes today after making a few yesterday.  Too hard to call.

Did leave Froome out of the purist team.  Might it have been the right decision?

Weird to see TT specialists on the podium, but people like Yates and Pozzovivo in the top 10.

I may go without Froome in the Purist game because I can see (possibly) a dramatic exit for him in connection with current allegations (not any new ones)….has anybody else had similar thoughts?….Gonna be a lot of pressure on him and the authorities for certain…

He is also bloody expensive, and he might just crash or get sick.

This is one type of pollution

This is one type of pollution.  You will get a different list on NOx for example.  I work in a Area Quality Management Area (AQMA).  The town is not on this list, but it is SOx the AQMA was created to monitor / control.

You have the big city trafic on the list and hotspots like Port Talbot where there is an industrial impact.

Prestonpans surprised me.  Anybody know why it is so bad?  Previously it had a coal fired power station close by (Cockenzie), but that closed a few years back.  There is the A1 close by, but no worse there than other stretches I would have thought.

@Davel – excuse my ignorance, but what has Robert Winston to do with this?

Google his comments made in the Lords on this subject.  In summary he blames cyclists for congestion.
