Both v cool. Raleigh, how come PS was visiting? That sounds like a posh school for sure! Was he there to talk about clothes/design, and was he then surprised to be grabbed by a cyclist instead?!

Sounds like a great ride. I reckon if you can build up to maybe 60 miles, you’ll probably manage it on the day, pacing yourself with breaks and a sensible speed. So with a 60 mile target and a presumed lower-than-you’re-used-to level of fitness, plan a ride every other day, starting at 20 miles and increasing in 5-mile increments. If you start tomorrow (28-09), that would put you in a position to ride 60 miles on the 14-10. Obviously, if you can start with higher mileage, or increase the mileage at a slightly quicker rate, all the better. The other thing is that, having just got back on the bike myself after an injury, I’m finding the flexibility and core strength to be more of a problem than actual bike fitness, to the point that my position on the bike has changed. So check you’re still comfortable, and maybe do some stretching and core strength work while you’re in front of the TV.
If you happen to get to a point where you’re happy with your stamina with a few days to spare, do a couple of shorter high intensity rides to get some of the spark back in your legs.
I’m quite jealous – have fun!

It makes them come across as quite arrogant and self important in my opinion.Yeah, they should turn up in a beaten-up battle bus with peeling graphics.
Somehow I don’t think DB or anyone else there is having a dick-swinging contest over the size of the bus.

I see the OP’s point, but I
I see the OP’s point, but I think the fact that a global (non-cycling) company is getting so much media exposure is good for the sport – it demonstrates to other big companies that sponsorship is viable and provides returns. The TdF could have been more exciting admittedly (although I may have imploded had I been any happier about Wiggo) but that’s largely down to Wiggo’s personal riding style – he’s a tempo rider and that’s what the strategy was built around. He’s not going to be their number 1 forever.
As for US Postal, I think there is still a difference at the top end. Lance’s team used to kill everyone, only to be followed by Lance launching an attack that made his team’s pace look like a walk in the park for him. Brad’s boys use a similar team time-trial approach, but there’s no big solo superhuman effort, and no disguising that they’re all cooked at the end of it, Brad included.

I had a go on ultegra Di2 on a turbo trainer. It seemed really good, and the auto-trim on the front mech was very neat. How long until electronic shifting starts appearing on the club run? I’ve nothing against progress, and suspect that in 10 years electronic might be the default option anyway, but I like being able to hang the bike on the stand and tinker with it.Oh, and the mouse-click-like button pressure might prove to be nonsense in full-finger gloves.
