Yeah – fair enough – for some

Yeah – fair enough – for some reason I had in my head that the original quote said ‘charged with’.

    “I can’t think of a case

“I can’t think of a case where [anyone would] need it” =/= “I don’t need it”. It is possible to try to consider use cases other than your own. Obviously, it possible that you may miss some, but then Secret_squirrel didn’t claim that there were no cases – only that they couldn’t think of any.

I’d guess the level of race

I’d guess the level of race they mean is ‘included in the fantasy league’.

The offence in law may be a

The offence in law may be a single one of being unfit to drive through drink or drugs, but that doesn’t mean that they couldn’t have been charged separately with being unfit through drink and being unfit through drugs. Just like if you stole three bikes you’d be charged with three counts of theft.

Oh, wait… in that case you’d be charged with no counts… hang on… what was the point I was making again…?

    What I’d really like, and

What I’d really like, and haven’t been able to find yet, is something that does a decent job of taking (a) a point I want to pass through, and (b) a distance I want to do, and then finds me appropriate circular routes.

    I was assuming ‘unift through

I was assuming ‘unift through drink’ and ‘[unfit through] drugs’ were separate offences.

    Or even just random innocuous

Or even just random innocuous looking stretches of road after a light mizzle following a dry period.

I’ve twice gone down taking corners in a leisurely fashion because I’ve unexpectedly found myself trying to cross an oil slick.

I read that as meaning that

I read that as meaning that they shouldn’t bend to media demands to ‘make an example’ out of someone just because they happen to be a celebrity – that if we deny someone access to a rehabilitative route because they’re in the public eye, then we undermine our use of it for the ordinary Joe.

    Not much, no – particularly

Not much, no – particularly with addiction-related offences. By the time someone’s in the situation where they’re about to commit the offence, ‘what will happen if I’m caught?’ isn’t generally top of their mind.

A design that protects from muck and water spray, and an ability to quickly shed any that does hit it would be high on my list.

    Maybe it says something about

Maybe it says something about our car-centric / self-centred society that we’ve all shifted our thinking from an observer’s perspective to a driver’s perspective.
