That does look as if the axle is bent, have seen that elsewhere.Otherwise the cassette lock ring is loose or the bearings aren’t adjusted properly or something. Take it to LBS and if not satisfied with the explanation take it somewhere else for a second opinion.

Crud RR2, need fettling and ingenuity but once you get them right they do the job and add only a few grams.Yes, put gaffer tape around the frame so the clamps grip better. They’ll squeak and whiffle when you go over sand or leaves but a puddle sorts that out quick.
Mine are on their third winter and have only needed the occasional nudge or cheap part after cycle park knocks and bumps (I ride the winter bike to work).

This image shows you why you’ve got a problem:http://road.cc/sites/default/files/P1020490.JPG
The curve is too short so you’re clamping the ergo against a straight section of bar. Campag ergos have a longer contact patch against the bar which means they are more sensitive to the bar curve, but also more rigid when mounted.
I think you need new bars.

Go with Campag, holds its value far better second hand than Ultegra, so if you want to go to DA or SR you’ll get good money back for it.

Fulcrum 2014 racing 5, just
Fulcrum 2014 racing 5, just over 1640g and only £138 on Wiggle at the moment in Campag flavour. But if you must spend £350, Fulcrum Racing 3 are outstanding, 1550g.
Remember, there’s more to wheels than weight.

Good choice. And if you ever go Campag, you can swap the freehub over in 3 minutes. Beat that!Seriously though, I have both RS80s and Fulcrum Racing 3 and latest 5. The Fulcrums (made by Campag) are stiffer and more efficient and faster. The RS80s are more comfy and have superb bearings. Still, I enjoy the Fulcrums better, just seem to turn pedalling into speed more efficiently.

Totally recommend the
Totally recommend the Giordana FR-C. Windproof breathable front, waterproof shoulders and fronts of arms, warm fleecy back. Best cycling garment I’ve ever had. Just needs a light base layer under it, or even on its own if its warm. Shrugs off the odd heavy shower, never gets clammy. The poor man’s Gabba.

Washing-up liquid or handwash and hand warm water. Should do it.I guess, wash it the same way up you wear it to avoid getting gunk in the dome.

There’s a saddle exchange forum over on Bike Radar, very useful if you’re wanting to change saddles for try-outs.

Practically every commuter I
Practically every commuter I pass on my ride to work is in the smallest cog at the back and the small ring at the front* so this would be genius for the commuter market.*I guess they just clicked to let the spring take the derailleur to the end of its action, not wanting to press hard to go down a gear. Well, something must explain it. Look out for it, it’s ubiquitous.

My first carbon bike was a Planet X pro carbon. I followed their online sizing advice and it was far too big. So I had to sell it. Bad sizing advice.I also had the same experience of Yorkshire Whippet above, at above 25 mph the steering was frightening. I’ve never had a bike feel like it was understeering at high speed before.
Since then I got a Canyon Ultimate AL and couldn’t be happier. It weighs no more than the PX, much stiffer where it needs to be and just as comfortable. Bike design has really come on, the PX pro carbon was a good bike and it’s cheap, but there are better bikes available now.
That said I’ve bought a number of parts etc from the PX online store over the last years and not had problems with them.

I’ve bought a few parts from Shiny Bikes and had mixed experiences. First couple of items back in 2011 were delivered on time, one I had to return and got my refund without problems.Recently I ordered a BB tool and another part. These were delivered on time, but the BB tool was a completely different model. So I emailed, and nothing. Meanwhile I bought the right one from a different online shop. Then a few days later I phoned, an apologetic chap said to return the BB tool for a refund, so I did that. But then the refund didn’t include my cost of postage for returning the wrong item! I will never use Shiny Bikes again.
Go with an established online shop, where the people know what they’re doing. I’ve never had problems like these with Wiggle, Ribble, CRC, HighOnBikes, Winstanley, AlwaysRiding, Merlin, Hargroves, SJS, CycleSportsUK, Planet-X, JE James, SigmaSport, Canyon, Bike24, Evans, Slane or loads of others. And if they have ever sent the wrong thing, they go out of their way to sort it.

+1 for the Smart Lunar R1
+1 for the Smart Lunar R1 rear light. I use it in daytime in the steady bright mode, and drivers see you from a long way off. The main light is far too bright for group rides or commuting so best for out-of-town forays or daylight. Also has a low mode that you can use for around town. About £12.50 at well known online stores.Around town I use a Cateye TL-LD600. I see a lot of these, it’s bright, sits vertically behind the seatpost, and is visible from the sides too. I charge the batteries about once a year. About £13.50 online.
Both have been used in all weathers for some years without problems.
