    Great article, always great

Great article, always great to encourage everyone to cycle, but

“About a third said they owned one. Of those, 39% were men, and 24% were women.

Of those who had cycled in the previous four weeks, 69% were men, compared to just 31% who were women.”

Only one of these manages to add up to 100%.   ?

    Oddly, after doing a full

Oddly, after doing a full sevice on my Chris King and my Marzochi Z2s (98?) I had slipage on my star fangled nut, managed to get enough traction to nip up the stem adequetly, but back to the LBS for their tools on this one.  Wonderful shakedown ride this afternoon, turned into a really nice evening, found myself in a bluebell wood.

    Loving your use of

Loving your use of “resinifies”.  I kind of liked the Wet, found the Wet Ceramic too light when I used it but giving it another go as Finish Line Wet is a bit too extreme for my current usage.  What I really liked was the lube nozzle, perfection.  I’m hoping the old bottles work just as well for the thicker lube.

I must apologise, I have done

I must apologise, I have done this before, I of course mean spittle-flecked, for some reason it never pops into my head or onto the keyboard.

    I still love you guys.

    I’m guessing that the 100+

I’m guessing that the 100+ cyclists killed on our roads every year, or the 300+ pedestrians, 40 odd of whom were killed on the pavement went “looking for it”

Having a camera doesn’t make a vigilante.  I think you may need to look up the definition.

    Maybe give everything a good

Maybe give everything a good clean so you have metal on metal.  Once the stem is tightened you can remove the bung and lube a bit.  the top cap shouldn’t be too tight in use anyway?

When I got my first Aheadset it was an FSA, I liked that it wasn’t a star fangled nut, they scare me a bit.  I am at this moment servicing my Chris King No Threadset, Not going anywhere near the star fangled.   Bit annoyed that I have to clean and lube the bearings whilst in the frame, but my god it’s a work of engineering art in there.  Left it a bit long, 8 years, I think, greased externally when servicing forks (Marzochi Z2s 98, plush as) , but it’s still clean in there and shiny.

It’s so  we can reply to them

It’s so  we can reply to them with wit, finely crafted arguements, spittle fueled rants and squirrely pictures.  We all know how bad it is out there.  We are a community, it’s why I’m here.  I’m a mountainbiker, aero, drop bars and skinny tyres are not my thing, but I get around on the roads, commuter and utility cyclist, never driven so aparently a “Golden” cyclist.   I recently signed up to singletrack, great website, and I’ve been reading it longer than this one, but it was to read some of the articles that were part hidden.  I just don’t feel part of that particular community.  I will talk to any cyclist when out, I love the whole bicycle thing.

    I love you guys.

By the time I would have been

By the time I would have been expected to learn to drive, I had been hit by idiot drivers too many times to ever want to have the possibility of doing this to anyone.  I just didn’t want to be that person.  I make mistakes, but the results of doing it at speed and with the mass of a motorised vehicle makes those errors far, far worse.  Nice to know that I can call myself a “Golden” cyclist.  Commuted by bicycle for over 30 years, and utility rider for longer than that.  I have always found a way.

    Remove seatpost, clean it,

Remove seatpost, clean it, the tube and the fastener, lube everything and put it back together.

This has stopped what I had always assumed was a creak in the bb or chainset.

And it’s never a bad idea, chatting to a bloke unlocking an Orange mtb ouside the supermarket the other day, lovely bike, there was such disappointment in his voice about the seatpost cold welding itself into the frame.  LBS could do nothing.  It reminded me, and I will be doing this to my everyday bike this long weekend.
