A man claims to have suffered
A man claims to have suffered a reported neck injury and whiplash after Leicester’s new automatic bollards lifted up his car. Raheem Awan said the incident meant his car has also now been written off.
In response, a Leicester City Council spokesperson said CCTV footage of the incident showed Mr Awan’s BMW had followed another vehicle through the bollards when it should not.

A van driver who took at least 20 lines of cocaine before crashing into a tram, then hitting and killing a three-year-old girl with his vehicle, has been jailed.
(12 years)He ran away from the crash, after flagging down a taxi, and was arrested a day later following a manhunt by police.
The court heard he had a number of previous convictions, including being jailed in 2017 for three years for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, after he torched a car involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision which killed a 25-year-old man, in Chorlton, Manchester.

Depends on the contract – some are incredibly detailed and others are woolly.
There’s a whole procurement process already under various legislation and a new procurement act that came in in the spring, so the idea that you could change things easily is fantasy. Also demonstrates that they have no idea of what is required when running an administration.

Because despite all the cuts in the last 20 years and all the cost pressures, no one has ever done that at all, ever, at the council.
Do they even understand that there is an opportunity cost in pulling people away from their normal tasks to address something that does not need addressing?
And what will they do with a 5 year contract – rip it up if they don’t like it? Well, good luck with that. Might see you lose access to vital data if you try that or be forced to create something new at an even higher cost.
