    Why not? You could wait in Halfords by the till and wait until someone wants to buy something that’s more than £20 and offer to swap the voucher for twenty of their English pounds.

    I agree with Bungle_52 – I wouldn’t bother reporting that, but I have reported close passes where the driver attempts to not cross the solid white lines.

    I did report one instance where a truck overtook me despite me being in primary (going quick, downhill and just before a blind corner) and the double white lines had just begun – the police didn’t think the overtake was dangerous (it wasn’t a close pass to be fair) and weren’t interested in pursuing it. It probably depends on which police force you’re dealing with, so maybe give it a shot and see what feedback the police give you.

    Cool – I was on my phone, so I didn’t check that well. Previously I’ve got their set of 2 x tyres and sealant which works out cheaper than getting 2 x tyres, so I was looking for that and must have picked the wrong one.

    I’ll give you my usual warning about Pro Ones – they’re delicate and I found that they became very slippery in the wet when they were at higher pressures (IIRC over 70 PSI with the 28mm ones). I switched over to getting the Continental TL5000s instead which I’ve found to be superb.

    To be fair, the difference between different crank lengths is a small effect and most of the time you’d choose a crank length to fit your legs (and hopefully not hit the ground).

    If you consider your 50×13 gear example – a longer crank would propel you a certain distance for the distance that your foot moves, whereas a shorter crank would propel you a longer distance if you moved your foot the same distance. Your feet are moving along the circumference of a circle with the crank length being the radius.

    Additionally, different size tyres would also make a small difference to apparent gearing.

    Crank length does have an effect on the apparent gearing – a longer crank will mean that the foot and pedal travel further for each rotation of the back wheel and require less strength (with a shorter crank being harder to push). Similarly, the wheel size doesn’t directly affect the gear ratio, but does affect the apparent gearing (c.f. penny farthings).

    Pedestrianising Princess Victoria Street in Clifton, Bristol apparently caused a lorry to scrape a parked car. Also, it’s a ‘nightmare’! (I reckon that’ll buff right out)

    Obviously it’s the pedestrianisation that caused it, not the allowing parking on both sides of a narrow road.

    One of the problems is that

    One of the problems is that we don’t have control over other countries continuing to extract fossil fuels. What we do control, however, is our demand for those fuels, so I think we have to shut down our continued burning of fossil fuels as soon as is physically possible. Building new roads and airports is just ridiculously stupid as what we need is infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists, scooters and public transport.
