Although I had no part in the counter protest in Bristol last night (which easily outnumbered the EDL idiots), I was encouraged by their chant “We are many, you are few. We are bristol, who are you?”
The far right may be very vocal and they get a lot of media attention (Farage on the BBC all the time?), but there’s far more of us that enjoy having a multi-cultural society and welcome refugees despite the narrative that the mainstream media is pushing.

I can recommend running pihole on your home network/router however it does cause a problem with Road.cc’s use of go.skimresources.com on most of the links.

Is the arboreal world safe for those of a Sciurus Carolinensisian disposition? We need to know. They’re in training and looks to need quite a bit more. I think they’re mainly a danger to themselves.
Here’s a more proficient one

Our stormwater tax applies to all properties, residential or business, and is based on the impermeable area which includes buildings and concrete or asphalt driveways. Mine amounts to a bit over $60 (£45) quarterly for about 22% of my ~12000 ft² / 0.25 acre / 1100 m² property being impermeable. You can get discounts if you add significant water retention features. We have a “combined sewer overflow” problem where a few times a year during heavy rain, an untreated combination of storm water and sewage goes into the major river that flows through town. The federal government (EPA) fines the city for each event. The tax is intended to fund fixing the system so that this doesn’t happen any more, but I haven’t seen much progress yet.
Don’t get me started on water companies pumping sewage into our waterways!

The CSX locomotive reportedly jumped the rail at about 8:15 a.m. Monday, striking a garage behind the home located at 3272 Seneca Ave. Emergency response crews from CSX, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Niagara Falls police and fire departments remained on the scene throughout the day as they worked to remove the train engine and to clean up diesel fuel that spilled onto the property and into the nearby street.
It’s not the first time the same property was involved in a similar situation. In the 1970s, a train hit the garage behind the same house.

I prefer the earlier novels too, when he seemed to be having a lot more fun with the ideas. I thought The Annhilation Score was a low point, but I enjoyed the elves in the follow up book The Nightmare Stacks.

I didn’t expect to see Charles Stross mentioned here – I’m a big fan of The Laundry Files (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Laundry_Files ) which are like a modern day, humorous take on Lovecraftian horror, but with a lot more bureacracy.
