A man was taken to hospital after a car crash involving multiple vehicles and a store in Bath city centre. Emergency services were called to Westgate Buildings at around 2.01pm today (Friday, January 17) after a car collided with a bus, two parked vehicles and Sports Direct.

That’s a ridiculous amount of traffic that was using Beaufort Rd when it was not nearly wide enough at some points for two lanes.
Personally, I don’t have a strong opinion about Victoria Ave as it’s already got the speed bumps etc. but I’m surprised that residents along Avonvale Rd are happy with all the traffic.

I wonder how quickly they’d all decide they wanted a LTN after all.
There’s plenty of traffic along Avonvale and Marsh Rd already without needing to encourage it.January 11, 2025 at 7:45 am in reply to: Through traffic to be banned in parts of Bristol for âliveable neighbourhoodâ scheme #1012345

Appears that the scheme
Appears that the scheme installation has now been paused:
Installation of a liveable neighbourhood trial in east Bristol has been paused after protesters repeatedly blocked contractors. While some of the measures have been installed, the majority of changes to the roads in the trial area have not yet been rolled out.The East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood trial aims to prevent drivers from cutting through residential roads in St George, Redfield and Barton Hill. But Bristol City Council has faced strong opposition from some people living in the area, as their journeys would become longer.
Opponents of the trial appear to have won a battle against the council, as large parts of the area remain unchanged. The installation of the measures was due to end this month, but little can be seen of them so far, apart from temporary road signs saying âbus gates not operationalâ.

First, host the photo somewhere on teh interwebs (e.g. Imgur.com), then get the address of the uploaded photo (e.g. https://i.imgur.com/HBKd5Ja.jpeg). Next, to make it into a BBCode/Forum link, you put “img” tags around it (the tags are enclosed in square brackets with the terminating tag being “/img”).

velotech_cycling wrote:Spoiler alert – I am Campagnolo’s lead tech in the UK, providing technical training for retailers, wholesalers and OEM, so the info here is from the factory …One of the challenges that all manufacturer’s face in instruction leaflets, is actually just how much into to give. Until around 2009/10, Campagnolo used to provide a deeper set of fitting instructions than they do now.
The challenges for all makers now are around paper (yes, really), how many languages it’s now appropriate to cover – and liability.
I’ve only ever snapped up Shimano components, so don’t have experience with Campagnolo stuff, but I think Shimano should do away with their paper-based installation instructions. They’re rarely useful as most of the time, it’s obvious how to install them and so the paper gets ignored. I think manufacturers should just provide a perma-link (i.e. not move the location once it’s published) to detailed instructions that can be easily read on a smartphone etc.

David9694 wrote:Joey Baptiste pleads guilty over Ferrari crash in NorwichBaptiste, 41, from Catkin Close, Cringleford, had previously denied driving without due care and attention, claiming the car had suffered a “mechanical failure”.
But he changed his plea to guilty yesterday, with his lawyer telling the court the Baptiste had “lost communication” with Mr Mendham (the vehicle’s owner who let JB drive as he was “unwell”) , so the vehicle could not be tested. She said that moments before the crash Baptiste had accidentally hit the accelerator when trying to break [sic].
She added that “witnesses think that he was speeding because the car has a loud engine,” before her client whispered it was a “4.7 V8 litre engine”.
Miss Buck said that Baptiste had received four points on his driving licence for an unrelated speeding incident which happened since the Ferrari crash. The magistrates in Yarmouth indicated they intended to issue him with at least another seven points for the Rose Lane smash.
Before they sentenced him, Miss Buck requested an “exceptional hardship application” be lodged, claiming that Baptiste required his full driving licence to do his job as a ground worker. She added that he has a son who lives in Fakenham and requires his driving licence to pick him up at the weekends.
As he left court after the hearing, Baptiste unleashed an expletive-filled tirade at our reporter, who asked if he wished to comment on the case.
Baptiste said he would throw him and his telephone into the nearby river if he took a photo of him. Court security guards came out of the building to soothe tempers and Baptiste was ushered back into the building by the guards and his solicitor.

Sounds like a lovely bloke. I wonder why he didn’t want his photo taken, when it was already published when he was found not guilty of sexual assault and GBH back in July (https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/24474225.joey-baptiste-found-not-guilty-peterborough-crown-court/)

I thought that the cable
I thought that the cable ferrules are there just to prevent damage to the end of the cable outer and the frame as there could be a sharp bit left after cutting. They also keep the outer aligned nicely in case the cable was cut at an angle. I don’t think they need to do any compression as that happens from the tension of the inner cable.

It’s a 1955 NAMI-050 âBelkaâ (Squirrel) – a Soviet concept car. It’s got the engine at the rear, so no clambering necessary.
