What happened with the head-tube welding? Looks like they crashed it and then tried to weld it back together again.

That looks very heavy. Are they aiming it at ageing BMX fanatics who want to go shopping and still be cool?

    Get one that fits her

Get one that fits her perfectly as you’ll still be able to ride it (though not very well as it’ll be too small and I doubt that the saddle will go high enough to compensate). When she becomes a MTB fanatic, turn round and say that you need to get your own bike now.

No – that looks like a standard usb-micro cable.

I think you need the SM-BCR2 battery charger (see pic below) which you can usually pick up for around £50 on EBay. The SM-BCR2 converts a usb-micro cable into the proprietary Di2 port connector (I think it also changes the voltage) and also doubles as a PC-USB-Di2 adapter.

    Have you got the charging

Have you got the charging adapter for the Di2 system i.e. the box that looks like a small power supply but with a usb socket on it and a cable that plugs into funny Di2 connector? If so, and you have access to a suitable Windows laptop then you can download and install the ETube software from Shimano (https://e-tubeproject.shimano.com/). Connect the Di2 charger to a USB cable connected to the laptop and you should then be able to configure your Di2 system (including upgrading firmware etc).

    Commuting – just be stubborn

Commuting – just be stubborn enough to ride in the cold and dark. I get the train when it’s raining or if there’s surface moisture and it’s cold enough to freeze as there’s always the chance of black ice.

Is it just me or do others find it a lot more tiring when it’s cold?

    I don’t understand why there

I don’t understand why there aren’t more lifetime driving bans given out.

There’s plenty of people who can’t ever drive due to illness/neurological conditions (e.g. epilepsy, fainting etc), so it’s not as though people HAVE to drive.

Completely forgot about this! Thanks for the advice all. I have actually set up tubeless numerous times, but few on road rims, and wondered if there was any new-fangled tape de rigueur with those in the know. Kapton tape seemed to be popular a few years ago now but gone out of fashion. At least it was a cheap failure. What’s funny is the tape failed on the first spoke hole past the valve so there was actually THREE layers of tape on that point! Guess I’ll just go with Stan’s hawkinspeter: I thought you were supposed to use tape either the internal width or not much bigger, much like Spangly Shiny above recommended 20mm tape for 17mm id. I’d say you were using tape too wide – but I’m no expert and if it works it works

Next time I get some, I’ll try the thinner tape and see if it’s easier.

    I didn’t see much helmet

I didn’t see much helmet wearing in Copenhagen when I spent a week holidaying there. We hired bikes for one day and the shop that we hired them from didn’t push helmets at all. My wife brought up the question of helmets and though the shop could rent them out, the man was ambivalent about whether we’d need one or not. I suggested that we weren’t planning on crashing, so we didn’t bother with them and luckily had no need of them.

What I did see a lot of was bikes with storage pods/compartments on the front for holding children/dogs etc.

We did see lots of electric scooters (and tried them out briefly) – I wonder if they contribute significantly to the KSIs?
