Yeah its all good raise the profile and getting traffic here, but if they don’t stick around after their one post and when the Schwag ends, then its a pointless exercise, might aswell just give themselves the wheels and save the hassle :B

Its now upto 1120 comments, now i’ve only see a max of around 650-700 comments before on any Schwag, so its bringing traffic in, thats for certain, I’d just like to see, even 10% stick around, There was something like 3000-4000 players in the fantasy game last year, but only a handful of people posting comments in the forum, Now i know its be said by the guys running this site, that the forum isn’t the be all and end all of the site, but personally, i’d like to see the amount of users who come and post, even once a week rising this year with the fantasy game. It adds a little something extra to the game when people are commenting on tactics and riders throughout the races, rather than just coming on, picking a team and then coming back the next day to see points and making transfers.

I would just like to see some more people getting involved with the forum side and the “banter” we were all having 😕

I managed to just get over
I managed to just get over the 6000 miles in the end with a couple of rides on xmas week

Ended the year on 6042, pleased with that, the only time i travel by car is when my granny is driving and i’m going to the shops with her, her mileage this year was 238 miles, so i think my carbon offset it all good, rofl 👿

This wheelset is around 2000g i think, so even adding packing, its not going to hit 4kg

The post office do standard parcel’s upto 1.5m long, 4kg £10.34 insured to £100, just got that from their website incase anyone else comes along looking at these

I’d say some bubble wrap and cardboard with some parcel tape would manage to make a decent box and protect them aswell

As far as i know SRAM and Shimano are interchangable

I’m going on your assumption aswell that it is well organised as i guess it would be

But NO, you shouldn’t be expecting the same if not better in the UK, for a few reasons

1. You might be lucky to get closed roads over here, but because this country puts up some much resistance to roads being closed and not enough attention on fun and fitness through these type of events, Just look at what keeps happening on the Etape Caledonia, people out putting nails all over the road

2. Its not very often you get to race the same stage as the worlds best/most well known in what is normally great weather, The UK climate can never offer the best of weather even in the height of summer

3. The caliber of riders doing the UK sportive’s can vary widely from guys who should be pro to the guys who have to walk up the smallest of climbs. To take on the Etape Du Tour, you have to really think about your own fitness and turn up ready for it and be able to finish as your accommodation is normally near the finish point and being in a foreign country, your not going to just stop and jump on a bus, lol, i also think they would have a van/lorry picking up stragglers that most sportives in the UK don’t have

Depending on how you enter Etape du tour it can range from £80-200 plus you add in the cost of getting there and somewhere to stay

For instance some charity’s have got a team onto Act 1 and 2 next year, entry with them is only £99 but then you pay for everything yourself and also raise some cash for them

The Etape Cymru 2012 costs
The Etape Cymru 2012 costs £55 as far as i know, The Etape Caledonia is £61 this year

There is one thing i think some people are missing, these things cost a bit to organise as they need certain permission’s/insurance and license’s to run them, I dont know how much they cost

The reason i only enter a few here and there is not based on money, but my ability to run upright for a certain time, I don’t do sportive’s over 50-70 miles as i’d not be able to complete unless its on my recumbent

From what you have written in your opening post

So I’m riding across London this evening, down Northumberland Avenue. All of a sudden I get a “beep, beep” from behind me, clearly some driver unimpressed that I’m not prepared to ride in the gutter for him. So anyway I flip him a finger, he overtakes anyway.

So he beeped you, you held your line and he overtook you anyway, is that right?

Was it the manner of the overtake that got you all enraged? Or simply because he overtook you?

The serious part in my eyes is you taking it that step further by confronting the driver, Its not as if he just overtook and then stopped infront of you, he stopped for a red light, which in my eyes, you have to do by law. In some situations, maybe i might have been tempted to give him a hand gesture while he was behind you, for instance if he was right on your wheel. Then if he overtook and stopped at the lights, i may have given him a look of discontent and shock my head.

But to go and knock on the drivers window, when the driver had overtaken you (still to find out in what manner) Is again in MY EYES, the totally wrong thing to do and could have landed you in a lot of bother for doing that
