    Decathlon bib shorts seem to

Decathlon bib shorts seem to get very good reviews – the 700 series bibs are currently ÂŁ 24.99, various colours etc here

..no guarantee you’ll like them for 4 hours, but then again could probably say that about almost any ones.

Apologies, it is the other way around, i couldnt find 6 bolt to centrelock adaptors!

    Ah – makes sense now.

I found a few of the c/l to 6 bolt ones as they just an oversized centrelock flange with bolt holes! Hard to see how they would be able to make one going the other way because of how far out the adaptor would push the rotor out from the hub etc

    Indeed 🙂

Also, i want to upgrade the wheels at some stage and until i decide which way to go with them i don’t see the point shelling out too much on fancier rotors only for them to be out of service fairly quickly as there isn’t an adaptor that takes the discs from centrelock to 6 bolt, only 6 bolt to c/l.

Sorry only just seen this – there are indeed centrelock to 6-bolt adaptors, e.g. Superstar do these

..probably some others around too but not had the need to look for ’em. Cheers

160mm is hell of a lot of brake for the rear, are you sure 140mm isn’t sufficient ? If you’re sold on some sort of ungrade 160/140mm front/rear would be cheaper ..and if your extra-sized front is doing its job, there’s not going to be more load on the rear wheel whilst braking. Just a thought, your money and all that.

    et viola!

..except that searches the whole site, the OP was asking how to only search the road.cc forum. Love to know myself, I haven’t seen any way of searching in a sub-section of road.cc, do sub-searches, order searches or any of the more basic search filtering.

You can modify that just to search the forum by amending the road.cc bit of what Argos74 posted. For example, if you just want to search in the forum, you put “site:road.cc/content/forum” then a space then your search term, and the search will be limited to everything in that directory (i.e. the search will be of everything in /forum).

Ah good point – it didn’t look consistently laid out under one directory tree when I looked at a couple of links under the forum jump page but most seem to be under road.cc/forums. Cheers.

No worries mate, it’s a poor bit of website design that catches quite a few out.

    Here’s me tuppance worth.. I

Here’s me tuppance worth.. I tried a second-hand compact set to see if they might help with a knee issue and perhaps help seated climbing a bit on the steeper stuff. Seemed to be easier pushing over the top of the pedal stroke when seated on climbs and, strangely, accelerating on the flat in the saddle. The biggest difference I found was also quite un-expected, and that was the feel when out of the saddle – felt much smoother and more ‘natural’ for want of a better word and wasn’t something i’d remembered hearing of before I tried them (have since). I found it immediately noticeable – up a short 15-19% stretch – more so than the difference when seated, but no idea if/how it might feel to others. I don’t think i’d be tempted to go back to round rings if I could avoid it – the only fly in the ointment is that they’re not cheap at retaill but seem to come up on classifieds/eBay regularly enough that i’m not overally concerned. All this is completely personal opinion of course, but i’d say definitely worth a try if you can. HTH

Has anyone bought the GB Adidas kit? It seems to be pretty well discounted just now! Just wondering if it is good quality/fit etc? Plus is it “cool” to wear it….? J

It’s in the page source, but really wish road.cc would sort this crap out. Having links to comments that actually work would be nice too…

You don’t need to spend too

You don’t need to spend too much, or have a smart trainer, to get quite a lot out of Zwift , Sufferfest or TrainerRoad – the first two are excellent for taking your mind off things, TR has the more complete training packages.

Cycleops and Kurt Kinetic fluid trainers both give very realistic feel, consistent reading (especially the Kurt) in varying heat/humidity, power curves that track pretty well with real power – albeit offset typically – and are ridiculously robust and well made. The KK Road Machine/Rock and Roll can also be fitted with the InRide ‘power meter’  for well under ÂŁ 100 – basically an ANT+ speed sensor that works on the roller and broadcasts the calculated power back out and gives surprisingly good power accuracy (see e.g. DCR) – copes much better than the stand-alone trainer with accelerations too. I have this set-up as my dumb trainer (KK RoadMachine/InRide).

Zwift also works well with both, but be aware –  it’s very easy to get distracted with competition on there ! The racing is highly addictive and well done, and it’s sometimes hard to concentrate on the intervals when you have friends / groups buzzing past… fabulous fun mind, even with a dumb trainer.

BKool has always looked good, nearly bought one (tried it) on the strength of the app and price of the trainer – but for me it suffers from the problems other trainers (e.g. Elite) have that use a pivot arm for the wheel attachment, namely sprinting and out-of-seat/unloading. Shame, like their stuff, although plenty of people don’t find it an issue and you could always use another trainer with the software anyway.

Speaking of which, the lower range Tacx Smart trainers have been coming down steadily in price, and the general build quality seems to be improving over the last couple of years so could well be worth having a look around – particularly in the European websites.

Whatever trainer you end up with i’d definitely recommend trying the free trails for all the three apps and see what floats your boat – they’re not all for every one but you should get a really good impression of what they’re like in a week or so.

    Have fun.

    If you have a Specialized
If you have a Specialized store nearby it might be worth having a look. They also have a few flatter cutaway saddles and do a saddle fit and try-and-buy scheme. There’s always the saddle swap thread over on Bike Radar too, more random but bit of variety.

Are the marks a real problem – now you know it’s not a structural issue.
