I’d say it was well worth the local Coroner issuing a Prevention of Future Deaths report under Regulation 28 – I mean, why wait for this all to finally end in tears (and blood)?

wow, his car might be dented,

wow, his car might be dented, but his arrogance is unscathed. It’s not a matter of if someone is seriously hurt but when, so long as this lunacy continues.

Outrage as Wiltshire man filmed ‘crashing £100K BMW into a hedge’

In a public post on Instagram, Parsons said that he needed to address the incident – appearing to make admissions and responding to people he claims are ‘praying on his downfall’.

He wrote: “Clearly the elephant in the room needs addressing or shall I say the m3 in the tree, thanks to everyone who asked if me and the car are all good.

“As for the little [p****s] praying on my downfall and hopping on the comments, the car isn’t written off, damaged but repairable.

“Already stripped and ready to be repaired, I’ll be back and the mtree will be better than before.

“Yesterday I read the situation wrong and it shouldn’t have happened, mistakes happen all the time. I’m not the first and I won’t be the last.” (You can say that again – 4 or 5 fatal “mistakes” every day on average.)

For the bonus, it’s quite the word salad served-up by Caffeine & Machine, (a popular coffee house and diner opened for car enthusiasts, in West Meon Hut – AKA the A32/A272 crossroads.)

“Driving is in our DNA” is the strapline.

“worship at the altar of the Cult of Machine – the amazing community that we’ve built up” also “We want our community to be respectful, open-minded, and always willing to explore new ideas and subcultures”

Perfectly sure because he’s a male, 6′ 2″ tall and can look after himself, rather than is a vulnerable lone female.

I hear he’s having an extension.

Angry residents say they’ve been trapped in their own street for weeks

Residents living in the street have had enough and have reported what is happening to the council and even the police

The mum-of-two said illegal parking right on the pavements is blocking access for wheelchair users and people with babies in pushchairs. She said neither pedestrians nor drivers can see oncoming traffic when crossing roads or pulling out, causing serious risk of accidents.

    Children as young as eight

Children as young as eight walking up to five miles? Warwickshire County Council leader faces backlash on extending limit on pupils walking to school

    https://www.warwickshireworld.com/news/politics/children-as-young-as-eight-walking-up-to-five-miles-warwickshire-county-council-leader-faces-backlash-on-extending-limit-on-pupils-walking-to-school-5380798

Nice own goal here by Cllr Finch here, but in a way he’s right to raise this issue as successive governments have flunked the issue for decades.  You can get tied-up in knots with what constitutes a safe (and available) walking route, and there’s always that borderline distance case where the route had to be walked with a measuring wheel.

Don’t fall for the “children on their own” nonsense either  – the law is clear that the child must be “accompanied as necessary”.  It’s 3 miles for over 8s, and 2 for under 8s.

Last time I looked, and this is clearly bonkers if it’s still so, walking along a road was still deemed to be “safe” for bus pass assessment purposes.

    So today it’s sort-of D-day

    So today it’s sort-of D-day for Oxford’s congestion charge.

What you need to know about Oxford’s congestion charge

But can’t run this stuff on the basis that one vote can scrap the whole thing:

True – aren’t most people being forced to choose between “driving and heating” or “driving and eating” these days? And then there’s the cost of snow chains, plastic scrapers and antifreeze as the temperature drops – never mind frozen parking prices, some OAPs could literally be freezing in their cars without further government subsidies (is this right? )…

Gonna say it again, in my “but seriously now” voice, car ownership is expensive – if you really are compromising on your food budget, you can’t afford to run a car.

The good news about Whitstable is that it’s on the beaten track – but there are plenty of places that are off it.

Wiltshire villages in ‘lockdown’ over traffic chaos

Drivers have been left to choose between a long diversion route through Calne and Melksham or cutting through the villages to the east of the town.

Many have chosen the latter option, and residents like Ellie Murphy, who lives on the eastern outskirts of Devizes, say they have stopped driving at night to avoid the “chaos” in the villages.

After this experience, Mrs Murphy says she will not risk becoming stuck in a similar queue.

She said: “We only dropped into town to pick up a takeaway, but we won’t be leaving the house in the evening for the rest of the works.

“Our neighbours don’t want to go into Devizes after 7pm, it’s a bit of a lockdown which is really frustrating.

    ‘It’s outrageous!’ Anger at

‘It’s outrageous!’ Anger at Canterbury City Council’s plans to hike fees at Kent’s priciest car parks in Canterbury and Whitstable

Proposed 10p price hike in Canterbury/Whitstable area for Band 1 car parks:

Carole Ridley, who runs a dress shop under her own name in Harbour Street [Whitstable], said she was “absolutely horrified” to hear of the increase.

“The public can’t afford food, let alone the parking – the parking is outrageous,” she said.

“They are so out of touch.”

The city council points out that prices for more than 5,000 – or almost 80% – of the council’s car park spaces are set to be frozen, including at Park and Ride sites.

Charges are not changing in the council’s Band Two or Three locations, where fees are £2.70 and £1.90 per hour, respectively.
